That is NOT a '71 KE 125. They didnt start to put 21 inch wheels and six speed gearbox with conical front brakes and that styling till 1974. I know coz my friend and I ran out and each bought one. We converted them to enduro racers by stripping off the blinkers, huge tailight(yours has an after market lightweight rubber rearlight/license holder like we ran) and heavy rear fenders and replacing with plastic fenders, adding Kawasaki green Don Vesco fat skinny tanks on them, along with a Bill Wirges torque pipe which was light years better than the Hart or Bassani pipes as we had another friend who had the same with a Bassani pipe and it was weak compared to ours in torque and low to midrange power. We cut the rotory valve and milled the heads .025 " for more compression equaling better performance in the woods . they were easy to wheelie pulling them up and wheeling from 2nd to 5th gear. We also put Preston Petty headlight/number plates on them to save more weight. We added a counter sprocket with one more tooth too(I think it came with a 12 or 13 tooth and we used a 13 or 14tooth?Our setup made them competitive with Penton enduros which came with 6 speed gearboxes and 21 inch front wheels for nearly $600 more! They shifted better than the Pentons' Sach gearboxes too. My KE cost me $635 brand new. That paint job I believe was on the 1975 model, copied after the kx motocrossers. Check and you'll see, Kawasaki didn't have that model with that styling until 1974. The '74 (my model)had a black stripe across the green gas tank with white penstrips on either side and the '75 had the white stripe with black penstripes on either side running across the green gas tank. Plenty of them online to see photos.

I got thrown in jail on July 4th, 1977 doing 85MPH on a 1976 KE 125 going down a Colorado mountain pass. Fastest I'd ever been on it, and wouldn't ya know? Johnny Law pulled me over to "congratulate" me. I put a larger front drive sprocket on it, but even with that (under the previous best conditions) I only got her to go 75MPH. Fun bike, but a 250 is much better! With the large back sprocket on this one, I bet 50 MPH is all this one would do. And, that would be screaming!

I have one of these, they are so fun to ride and they really do have a lot of power for a 125cc bike. Also they Handel very well So they are much fun as a urban street bike.

KS125 succeeded F6125 and that is not original KS125. I had KS125 that was sold to me as new bike in 1977 although it was probably a 1975 0r 1976…anyway I liked the torque of the rotary valve engine and the frame and ride comfort was great. I even had soft sidebags for touring. Very fond memories of my first motorcycle ❤

I have the second bike he showed but I need a new motor because it won't when I kick over it will surge and I have gas and I cleaned the carburator and checked the points and it still won't kick over if you know what the problem is please leave a message on the comments.
