i absolutely love my ninja 250. my friends told me to start on a 600 or a 500, but i found it an amazing choice to buy a 250. not only is it very very quick, it gets AMAZING mileage, almost as though the gas is free. if you're considering a starting bike or just one to get you around town, get this, please.

Very good video, I'm 22 and I'm going to learn how to ride a bike soon and was thinking about first bike ideas, I like the sporty looking and sounding ones so this caught my eye. I love the look of the CBR 600RR but I heard that's a bad idea for first bike because of things like the riding position etc, this true?
@renegadebiker2412 жыл бұрын
This may seem like a crazy question, but how well is this bike on curvy roads like the "Pig Trail" here in Arkansas, or even the "Tail of the Dragon" in North Carolina in so far as suspension and cornering as well as braking??? I am looking at getting one sometime in the near future.

@clickclackblauw Did you test drive the ninja 250r and the gs500f? If so, what was your impression between the two?

I want to purchase my first motorcycle but want to know if this one is more ideal for a beginner? I also did some research on the yamaha r6 and honda cbr but don't know what would work better for me (novice). Which of the three would you suggest??
@SlavicDragovtev14 жыл бұрын
I own it. It really is a little winner (from the verb to win :) ). Perfect looks and agile. Very nice review.

You're good :). I am 6'2 was 190lbs when i purchased it and it handled fine for me. Plenty speed. Since then iv lost 10 lbs (180lbs) and it's that much better!

yes im 5'7' and the stock suspension i sit flat footed..is a confedence building bike...deff get this bike to learn if you are small like me

You may be surprised. Quite a few older veteran riders hop onto 250s and ride the snot out of them in technical routes. Some of them still participate in the 250 cup races. They prefer to wring out a smaller bike more often than they can in a larger bike, especially with the hefty traffic violation fines nowadays.

A lot of people saying buy a 600, or if you buy this 250 you are a female, or not serious about motorcycling etc. But think about this, in many countries, including mine (NZ), the maximum motor you can ride on legally on a learner license is 250 cc. This really is the best choice.
@zippolover1312 жыл бұрын
does it hadle everyday road corners alright because not everyone is going to full ridding equipment and the will be a starter bike for me
@MIT200414 жыл бұрын
@BenTheMagnifice no not really. bc of its rarity in other countries the price goes up. For example you can buy a nice lincoln navigator for 50k USD however same navigator in mexico will cost you about 90k USD. Do you understand?

@speedster2331 I'm 6'1, I did NOT fit on the bike. My legs were too long to fit in the fairing grooves and instead rested on the sharper top edge where the groove bows out again.

Stock tires do suck, I took my 250 onto a track today and it performed wonderfully. I was closing the gap between me and a buch of super bikes. Although in the straights, they eat me for breakfast.This bike is perfect for around town, but gets a little asthmatic past 65 mph. It can get between 40-60 mpg on city or highway streets. Ride for 3/4 a tank, fillup and it should cost you $8-11 to filler her up. Yeah it doesn't have the power of a 600, but it will put a smile on almost anyone's face.

I'm 6'2 or 6'3 and I have a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R, I like it but its my personal preference, you'd have to go sit on one to see if you like it or not...
@Regret69612 жыл бұрын
its just that, when you're out in the city and you twist the throttle you want it to fly, sure a 250 is fine for just riding around, even a 50cc moped is fine for just riding around BUT knowing you got all the power in the world under your right wrist makes you feel at peace. I own a zxr400 and sure its plenty fast but i'd still like a 600 or a 1000 just for the sheer power they have.

I from Argentina, in my country the cost for a model 2010 is US$8.000. and local currency costs is $30.000 (one years of work) common salary. Sorry for my english
@BeHempy12 жыл бұрын
@Frejborg I understand what your saying and I was really just responding to the haters saying like our bikes sound like lawnmowers, which I somewhat agree with. With a $150 exhaust you can have a 250 sounding awesome as well as adding some performance gains.

@Ren1319 They are 3999 msrp in the US at every dealer I have been to. Of course, that's before title, liscense, and any dealer fees which can kick it up to 4700 where I live. Fortunately, I have found a dealer that doesn't charge any extra fees and so can get it for 4400.

@rocketmanmjm13 жыл бұрын
@Ren1319 Sorry to post that twice. The GS500 is a little more than 3999 but not much difference. However it's a litte outdated and I have heard that it's not actually that much powerful than the ninja but I really don't have any experience with it so I can't say. I'll be taking both of these for a test ride soon so we'll see how it reeally rides.
@SlavicDragovtev14 жыл бұрын
Yo man! That price is crazy! I wonder what makes Norway dealers charge these prices for the bike. You can get 3.5 GSX-Rs for that price. Just import one from somewhere - it'll be cheaper.
@rocketmanmjm13 жыл бұрын
@Ren1319 I'n only 5'10. But just barely sit flat footed on the ninja. Same I think on the gs500. I'll be sure to post after I take each out for a ride.

Well, maybe it can be slow in U.S. Where the country is huge, roads are huge, people are taller, bigger and heavier. But for me who live in Japan, where the country is small, roads are very small (really no need to use freeway), people are small and light, it it's just enough.

Its a nice bike i have the 2011 special edition white/black/red but i got tired of it super fast i want a 600 real bad..i think since its a 250 its light and gets easily pushed on the highway by the wind but over all nice bike!!!

@BenTheMagnifice14 жыл бұрын
OK, EVERYONE, LISTEN UP! you are all comparing the r\prices that you can buy this bike at in different countries, saying that some are cheaper and others are more expensive, however, no one is considering the exchange rate, the MSRP is 5000 in canada, which is the same as 4000 US or 3000 in the UK or 15000 in Brazil. It is not "cheaper" anywhere, it is always the same price, just in a different currency!
@lizardkingdoom12 жыл бұрын
well wait, not exacty; there's a big difference between an R6 or a cbr 600rr and a ninja 250. assuming you're referring to the cbr 600rr, the difference between those 600's and the ninja is about 6-8k and alot more tears if (or arguably when) you drop it, and being new means screwing up is alot more likely, especially on something like an r6 that will be much less forgiving with rookie mistakes than the 250r will be. M13 explains it well here /watch?v=u5F9EeIP-B0

@Dogfacerawr Not going to rant about everything I should, just that buying a 2012 250R Ninja is a waste of money...Go buy a '09 for like a third of the price. As for the stock tires, just depends how you ride. I'm sure you could get at least 6K out of them.

@delta13dek I use to ride dirt bikes too before i started riding moties. Moties and dirt bikes are 2 different ball parks. Same concept, but different atmospheres. If you've never ridden a motorcycle, then DO NOT start off with a powerful bike. These are beasts and are not to be taken lightly. A 250 is a good starters bike. Once you get the hang of it...then you can upgrade. Learn how to walk before you run :D. And yes...a 250 has enough power to get you along the highway. Justbecarefl
