Hey #notagrom, just wondering what your thoughts are on leaving the stock O2 sensor connected with the PCV? I've heard leaving it in allows the ECU to go into "closed loop" mode which negates the effect of the PCV, although this should only happen when riding at a constant speed with low engine load. Is this something worth worrying about? Worth getting an O2 sensor deleter or no?

Great video.... I installed mine almost the same way you did last weekend. the only exception I did get was that I disconnected the fuel line at the top (or at the tank). I follow the way the Sport bike Track gear channel did it and it didn't leak. if you haven't seen that channel yet, check it out, there are a lot of helpful installs for the Ninja 400 on that channel. I also realised that the hose from the air box was easier to uninstall/reinstall at the bottom. one tip I do have....WD40 (or similar) is your "best friend" its great for releasing electrical plugs (although it wasn't really needed as the ninja 400 is still very new and no dirt and crud is jamming up the plugs yet) WD40 also help makes reconnecting the rubber hoses & reinstalling the front of the fuel tank into those 2 holes a lot easier. I just put some WD40 on my finger and apply a little around the rubber holes or a thin film around the hose inlet nozzles. Overall, not too difficult to install. only challenging part was getting at the crank case sensor plug inside that boot. firstly it was hard to locate (not clear on the dyno-jet instructions) and hard to access with very little space. again...great video.

Not a fan of STG. Had an encounter with one of their staff on their channel and they were total douchebags to me. I actually made a video about it a week or so ago. They aren't team players. They are trying to dominate the 400 on KZfaq to increase their profit margins. They have no passion or respect for other KZfaqrs and simply view them as "competition". I have no love or respect for a KZfaqr that shits on other KZfaqrs simply because they make videos on the same bike. That said, I appreciate YOUR support! I assume the tank has some sort of bleeder valve that keeps the fuel from leaking out, so my advice may not have mattered either way. It was just a lot easier to pull the line from the side, especially when you have big ol' monkey claws for hands, such as myself. Being that DynoJet released the PCV just a few weeks after the bike hit dealers, I'm guessing the bike they wrote the manual on had a different location for the crank sensor that Kawasaki updated after.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate the level of detail provided. I noticed the map you loaded said it was for Akrapovic full exhaust (which in my mind would include a header and no cat). I doubt a slip-on with stock header (with cat) flows much more than completely stock. Consider adding the Delkevic header for $238. delkevic.com/stainless-steel-2-1-headers-to-fit-ninja-400-2018/ And for my money, I'd feel a whole lot better getting the bike on a dyno to confirm results. It is possible to lose power with upgrades and no tuning or running the wrong map. It doesn't cost a lot and you may be able to get free or reduced cost dyno time in trade for youtube shout outs. Or make a whole video about it. That'd be real cool. Here's a link to dyno centers: www.dynojet.com/dynocenters/dynojet-motorcycle-dyno-centers.aspx

Does this ninja have the usual off idle Hesitation when you let the clutch out and open the throttle just a little bit more to get going? Does the machine surge/not hold a steady speed on the highway with steady flowing traffic speeds? do the riders following you have problems with their eyes burning and the smell of gasoline when they follow you as usual with these types of things.? The factories spend millions on research and development of these machines. It is quite a juggling act. Their machine Hass to be better than the competition, it Hass to be reliable so they don’t go broke doing #Warranty recalls, which aren’t very good for their reputation either, they have to pass the EPA sniff test, and the machine has to have what is known as “drivability “meaning, it will run without a hiccup in slow traffic, medium speed traffic, stop and go traffic, at sea level, and in mile high Denver. there’s always going to be some aftermarket company that claims they can catch lightning in a bottle, they can turn lead into gold, they can make lemonade out of lemons. I roadraced box stock class streetbikes for 8 years..i won 6 championships , 2 national championships.. I did this on a totally box stock machine. My first year racing, when I didn’t win, I am mediately started doing modifications. I knew it couldn’t possibly be me that was slow, it had to be my motorcycle. So I modified it and modified it and modified it after every race and I didn’t win.. I ended up converting that machine into a pile of useless scrap by over modifying it. I quit racing before the end of that first season. The second season, I started with a box stock machine with no modifications to the airbox, engine, or exhaust system. I did upgrade suspension, and relocated the foot pegs up higher, but that was it. I learned my lesson the first year, I learned that the factory knows more than i do.. I actually learned how to ride. I don’t mean the kind of riding you do on the street which is not even comparable to road race track riding. I knew that my box lock machine was going to start and finish every race and run as it was designed to run by factory geniuses. I started winning races the first year on a stock bike, and I ended up winning all those championships in a row, year after year after year. My machine would get protestant from time to time and had to undergo scrutiny by officials. The reason I would get protest it was because guys that weighed 50 pounds less than me on the same machine, Their machines were slower. The reason their machines were slower is, the deviated from stock tuning. They fell under the same trap I did my first year. I didn’t realize that it was them if it was slow, not their machine. don’t waste your money on these aftermarket scams. You’re not gonna notice anything except surging, hesitation, overly rich exhaust, most of the time.. leave your machine stock. Nobody wants to buy your Frankenstein when you go to sell it either.. I have a 2019 Kawasaki Z 400 right now. I am upgrading the suspension, but I’m not even going to change the stock air cleaner out. I learned long ago to leave my machine totally stock.. look at it this way. If you have an issue with your motorcycle if you cannot figure out by yourself. That means you have to take it to the dealer. With bikes today, labor is about $100 an hour or more. The technician on a fuel injected bike will have to plug it into his laptop and check the readings against the factory specs..When you go to changing things, the factory technician can’t find the baseline because there isn’t one anymore.. not only that, but if your machine is still under warranty, and if you bought an extended warranty, you can kiss that goodbye once you make a modification like this video... I actually remember when Honda rejected warranty claims on a few Honda Gold wing motors that went bad, because the owners put on an aftermarket chrome oil filters that caused the problem.. they did it to dress up their bike by putting on a cheap aftermarket chrome oil filter.. New bikes still under warranty, engine blows because of an oil filter, Honda would not fix the engines. I remember that because I worked on a Yamaha Suzuki shop at the time I heard that from a nearby Honda dealer. Leave your bike stock. If it’s too slow for you, sell it and buy a faster bike..

This is simple maintenance access. No more difficult than changing your air filter.

I’ve got the Dino jet and it’s not really that good... save your money and get a bigger faster bike unless you’re really into customed bikes and all the other stuff.

Why? So you can waste money on performance you can't even use 95% of the time, just to look "cool"? No thanks.
