The oil filler cap is just to the rear of the idle adjustment knob and above the clutch slave piston on the D model (I am guessing it will be the same for the C models). The cap you identified is the timing window used to position the crank when taking the valve clearances. Thanks for taking the time to post the video, I am sure it will help a lot of people.

Thank you! You did not have to post this! I am a former rider who broke the ice after a tragig accident long ago whi a Suzi Intruder VS800 years ago. Since have been without a bike for about 8 years. Now I have crossed paths with my 98 ZX11 and ...Dang! I would have originaly guess I don't need this kind of "bark" in a bike but....I like it!!! lolIt seemed a bit jerky but only cuz it's got some nuts! ))) It is clearly an older bike but wear prevention is key. You made it easier. TX for yor time.

I'd have never found the filter without your help, thanks. The trouble/fun with older bikes, it's hard to get hold of workshop manuals!

Thank you for your video on this topi. It will definitely spare me much time, as I thought that you need to pull the exhaust pipes as on many other 4 cyl bikes 👍👍🏿

+S James at the time i owned the bike before it was stolen I didnt know about those pages. I did my best to seek out that information. plus this is so old i wonder why the other user didnt simply inbox me. I would have added an anotation and credited him in the video update.

Thanks you for this Video! Been trying to locate my oil filter, sounds dumb I know, but yeah the manual is pretty vague. I have a 92 ZX11, And it is a lot different from my 07 Ninja 500..

made some correction, since it was dark and there was tube covering the oil install port i will do a results video showing that all is well with the zx11.

just about to do my zrx1200, the local stealership wanted £140 or $210, I will make a sacrificial offering to the oil change gods in preparation

I found on mine it took less oil than the manual said I assume because the oil cooler held some and after I put the oil in I had to run it and get it warm to get a good oil level reading.

+Paul Moorhouse if i still had the bike i would have updated it. but hope it helps since there is another place to insert the oil. still worked either way.

Drain from both drain plugs, front and back and remove the filter for removal of all old oil!!!!! Shouldn't submit instructional videos if they are wrong!!!

Isn't the oil suppose to be a bit over max mark, to avoid #3 con rod failure, at least what I've heard for these bikes?

This is an old video and after years later and learning from losing my gen 1 zx14 yes it should be a little over filled for that reason.

You should drain the oil from both drain plugs. It takes 10 seconds to unscrew the second drain plug. There's alot more oil in there that should be changed. Why wouldn't you? I have a 1991 zx11.

Manual says drain from both oil plugs. Always do this. You have left dirty oil in there.

can you please tell me what the part on the motors right side front its a small thing that looks like a gear lever is for? i hope you know what it is for its the only thing on my 2000zx11 i dont know about mins a 2000 australian model for some reason that year they imported american zx11s in rather than get them from japan that year so since its in australia its the only year that they got them from america insted of japan so ive got the zx11 were all others in oz are zzr11

+Rochey82 relax this was noted a long time ago. since it was an older bike and set up different. please relax bro I publicly said it was error before how ever the deal said i just filled it another way which wasnt the conventional. everythign was fine brotha when everything was put back together. i took it to my shop and they inspected it. no need to blast on a VERY old video lol.

I agree I'M a new zx-1100 and that was a very misleading video about where to put the oil, not everybody knows that he corrected his mistake ! Thanks for exposing it ,that really cleared up alot of confusion ,he should still take it down.

also your oil fillers in a diffrent plase im in australia and in 2000 they dident get any bikes from japan for some reason they got them from america so everywon else that has them here is zzr's i have an american made zx22

sadly this was stolen. did a bad deal with a shady shop and they got shut down. tried to get my bike back and they were long gone. i would still have it if it werent for the guy closing the repair shop and taking off.

+144000israelites i no longer have the bike. but tis not hard. you have to remove the air box, gas tank and then its kinda similar to a small car motor. i have a video of my zx10r on this channel which it is similar.
