I have been wanting to test ride one of these for a while now. Its currently all I want in a motorcycle. Its a sportbike in a touring platform without being a massive "Sport Tourer". Mainly for longer rides and weekend trips with the girl.

I have had the bike since new. So around 8 months. No issues I changed the exhaust which was 6.2kg to an aftermarket one. Which weighed 3kg including the link pipe. Makes a difference to its roar too. I bought the Grand Tourer which gives a gear indicator as standard.

Thank you for a great Vlog review! You use GoPro 3 and 4 but what is your mic setup? Your voice is so clear and we can hear the engine noise... but how did you eliminate the wind noise as well?

I live in the US, and our roads are not too bad here in Arizona. I found the suspension very lacking in the rebound department, and im a pretty light guy, about 85kg(170 lbs), it took a little tweeking to get it dialed in to my liking, but it will do in stock trim, but if you are heavier, you may want to upgrade, or change the weight of the fork oil.

Hi cager, I want to buy the Yamaha Super tenere 1200- you have tested. But Kawa Versys 1000 is also good bike. I don ´t know which bike is better. Could you say me, what do you think ,which bike is better? I had a vstrom 650 and I prefer road trips. Thank you.

The trouble with todays cars over the last few years is the fancy clear indicator lenses. During the daylight they suck and are hard to tell if they are flashing at times. Night time is no problem of course. I'm unable at times, during bright sunny days, to tell if these vehicles with clear indicator lenses are flashing and turning..

I really extremely love your review on this bike and this is the exact bike that I am looking at to purchase and you help me out a lot because I also watched your video on the 2014 Suzuki v-strom 1000 and I think you also did one on the 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 And it was all fantastic You cracked me up when you said on the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 when you said "I have never had a bike almost disroad me". It made me want to get that bike too but the seats extremely harsh on my bum and my groin area It like literally made it numb like fell asleep like that whole area my nuts and bolts lol And that was on the 2014 model Suzuki V-Strom 1000. It just to me was not very comfy and I have sat on other v stroms like after the 2014 model And those seats were extremely comfy and it just kind of confused me like why is this one softer than that one new models and obviously feedback from other bikers improved everything with the bikes and this particular video helped me out a lot I would like to also ask if you could do a video of the same bike but with nub tires for off-roading if possible and if it does have any aftermarket tires for nub tires for off-road that would be really cool and sweet because I'm getting me a 2017 Kawasaki versys 1000 LT. 😊😁😊☺️

I was looking forward to test-drive this one, but was a bit disappointed… Ok, it's comfortable for long travels, but to be honest, I really missed the "fun" of driving a motorcycle. Take a ride on this one, and then try the AT, or a KTM 1190, or even a Tiger, these are complete different bikes. This was one of the few bikes, I hadn't had a problem bringing it back to the dealer. But….it is a really good bike!

Very nice video pal...how would you compare it to mt09-tracer?
@hicks2400
@hicks2400 8 жыл бұрын
I found the tracer a bit more yobish, fun wheelies but the Versys just feels more like a pro. The Versys engine is smoother and feels like it delivers the power wherever you need it whereas I had to work the tracer more. If you're under 6ft you might find the bike a little tall but over 6ft and the Versys screen wont keep the wind off you. The riding position is extremely comfortable, I feel like I could go all day. Its very easy to eat up the kms and a pillion barely makes any difference - losing slight acceleration. A slight vibration is present around 3500rpm but silky everywhere else. Electrics and instruments all feel well placed and good quality. I felt that the tracer might have the edge on the twists but on a recent outing I found the Versys keeping up with some real scratchers, I pretty much hung on the tail of a speed triple (one of my fav bikes) on everything but a pot holey section - afterwards I adjusted my preload and damping and its improved the excessive bounce I had on the bumps. BTW there was a Vstrom with us that day and he was way behind and sounded a bit tractor like in comparison. I never tire of the exhaust note (stock) and my friends Z1000 (same engine) with slip on pipes sounds very cool / mean. The Versys is a bigger, heavier bike which made me think twice, whilst I enjoy being able to keep up with almost anything away from the lights my track days are behind me and I liked the comfort over the racy image.

Bike turns fine. Your turns seemed very wide. It has a 17" front tire and if you struggle to make a u-turn with this bike then you will hate a bike with a 19" front tire like Africa Twin or V-Strom. Gear indicator on a newer bike should have been included but my biggest two gripes are stupid small stock shield and lack of crash bars on the trims that are loaded with everything.

The reason the 650 feels lighter is that the engine is lighter than the 1000. That's why the 1000 feels more planted. Correct me if I am wrong....Sal : )

@larsm.4255
@larsm.4255 8 жыл бұрын
+Salaheddine020 I didn´t like the wind protection of the standard shield. Actually I think that it´s crap compared to its competitors Tiger, GS and co. I´m 6,2' tall and the wind heads right into my eyes when I set it on highest position. Actually it gets better if you put it on the lowest position. The Versys 1000 is the only Enduro which I can´t ride with open helmet visor. With everything else I´m totally thrilled for this bike. I think I will buy the Versys 1000 by next year but exchange the shield immediately for the original Kawasaki high smoke shield. - Lars from Cologne, Germany

@stevieburrows3953 8 жыл бұрын
If you ride above 80 mph regularly the Puig touring screen is very good.I own a Versys 1000 the standard screen works for me up to 80 mph it all depends on how tall you are
@larsm.4255
@larsm.4255 8 жыл бұрын
That's true, but unfortunately I don't like the look of that shield. I think that the original high smoke shield fits netter to the Overall design of the bike. Your shield looks too "adventure-enduro"-style for me like for a GS or Tiger. I don't think that it matches the sporty look of the kawasaki.

I enjoy your bike reviews but at times you drive like an idiot. I would advice you to stop driving the slightest over the speed limit in town or villages. If a kid runs out behind a parked car you wouldnt have a chance of stopping and the outcome could be disasterous. That goes for grown ups too appearing behind turns or vehicles. With that said, keep up the very informative and amusing reviews.

I fully agree on both comments from Don Brascoe, you make very good review's and I hope you keep doing these. Thinking of the consequences in detail level of that horrible scenario helps on controlling the temptation in places not suitable for that. Personally I control my driving also with a thought - hmm, do I want to increase the possibility of getting a life lasting unbearable quilt to myself that I can't live with - don't have think twice. On open road some extra excitement is welcome...
