I bought a 2023 Z900RS SE and I love it. I guess I am one of the few people who like the original exhaust, and other than 1st gear, the throttle doesn't seem snatchy to me. Maybe it's the way I ride it, I don't know. I have had BMW driveshaft bikes in the past and a smooth throttle hand is important. My accessories so far, were engine sliders from Kawasaki as well as a center stand. I put a side stand plate on the end of the ss to increase the area on the ground. I also put a rad screen and the same mini black grabber bars from Amazon. My most expensive accessory is a Corbin gunfighter saddle, since the original seat was too hard for me. I don't know if I need anything else, maybe a small fairing in the future, but I haven't made up my mind on that.

Man I’ve been watching all the reviews because I’m going to buy one and it’s amazing how everyone complains about stupid little things, man it’s a motorcycle, usually people buy a bike because they like the way it looks than they change things to personalize it according to what you like.

I had Ivan reflash the ecu and added Akrapovich header pipes (removes catalytic converter) into the stock muffler- and that fixed the fueling, jerky throttle. Basically the ecu is programmed very lean to pass emissions and that causes the on/off throttle the stock bike has.

Everyone has different preferences and use cases for his bikes so there is no universal advice which can be given to everyone. I like to go far, and I also do gymkhana, so I added luggage, replaced rear suspension to have remote preload adjustment, and installed heavy duty gymkhana grade crash bars. The crash bars saved my bike two times already. I also remapped the ECU last summer, after 3 years of owning the bike. I have some videos if you want to see how it all looks like.

Just bought a Z900rs, three weeks ago . Very happy with it , but a little heavier on fuel than I expected .Easy to ride and nimble. I agree the throttle is jerky , especially noticeable when you come off the throttle in gear . It's not a show stopper and I will ask about an EU Flash when I take the bike for it's first service. It's great looking and a head turner . I really think it's the best looking of the current crop of retros and that's the main reason I bought it

The ideal would be the same exhaust as the original on each side, without catalyst. L'idéal serait le même échappement que l'origine de chaque côté, sans catalyseur.

I have a 2024 Kawasaki Z900RS I love the stock exhaust I think it sounds very good I will just leave it stock and throttle is very smooth on my Kawasaki it's not snatche at all maybe they fixed it on the 2024 Kawasaki Z900RS

Interesting. I got back into riding a few years ago after a few decades break. My son did the training course with me and I bought a Ninja 400 as it has enough power to have fun but not so much that my son (a beginner) would get into trouble. One year later though I found the Ninja fun but too small and definitely not designed to take a passenger. I ended up buying an FJR1300 which will do everything effortlessly. Does it have more power than I need - yes and at this point in life even though I have no desire to race around, what I do like is that at legal speeds (or even quite well beyond them) it is supremely relaxing and smooth. It can out accelerate just about anything without the need to exceed 6000 rpm and taking three gears to 9000 rpm at full throttle will put you well beyond the legal speed limit in a matter of seconds. I've done a 4000 km tour fully loaded + passenger while still averaging 60-65 mpg (4.4 L/100 km). I leave the top box on the bike as it has a backrest and makes the wife feel more secure knowing she's not going to disappear off the back on the odd occasion that I do give it the beans. The Z900RS is a bike I have my eye on and would buy one as a third bike and again while it may have more power than I need I like riding bikes where the engine is not having to work hard or rev high. I'd put a grab rail on it for the passenger. Throttle snatchiness on these bikes - I've heard a remap can cure the problem, although learning how to shift gears smoothly makes like easier for the passenger (no lurching) - tuning the suspension for 2-up riding can also make a big difference (the FJR has electronically adjustable pre-load and damping and I found playing with the settings made a big difference to how the bike felt - at maximum pre-load increasing the damping actually helped keep things under control). If you think the Z900RS has too much power I would not trade it for a 1200cc BMW - its basically the same power output but probably not as smooth. A Triumph Bonneville T120 may be a good option - around 80HP but very torquey and lower revving.

It's me again... I vote for the Hindle and Ivan's tune. I'll probably do the Ivan's tune myself. 💪

Unfortunately, frame sliders are useless in a crash. They're designed to protect the engine in a tip-over, and they don't even do that well. If the bike is squirrely with a passenger, crank up the preload. RTM section about suspension.

Z990ra was my first bike . With the engine braking and snatchy throttle . I was like a bulleider on the bike . If wife wasn't watching, I would have put away bike instantly. Tried throttle tamer but eventually just took out ECU and sent off to get flashed. No more bucking Bronco 👍

Geez. I've got a z900rs cafe. It is just NOT a fast bike and has the power of an early 90s liter bike. Of all the reasons to get rid of that....

for me huge radiator is ugly and right side switch. jerkiness is thanks to stupid EU regulation, fixable though.
