I think your torque figure is way off way low. The reason you find the torque on the bike so low is because you're not revving it out yet, you're actually lugging the engine Both the torque and power at are at much higher RPMs.

Good description of the sensation of riding knobby off-road tires on the asphalt. That was really helpful. I'm trying to turn my Ducati Monster into a scrambler and it makes me feel better about going with 80/20 tires for my use. Big block knobbies do look so cool, though.

My Yoshimura Alpha T slip-on (for Daytona 675) came with a "sound insert", but I took it out after testing it briefly. I didn't like what it did to the tone of the exhaust compared to not having it in. It was also too quiet with my earplugs in....which I have to wear due to wind noise. I feel a little guilty when I ride at night, but I just crawl into and out of my neighborhood at low rpm. The Subaru WRX next door is louder than me anyway... I uploaded a video of it recently. Check it out.
@jcl6757 күн бұрын
Another idea I had was to measure and buy a friction fit baffle with a metal wire pull handle welded across it. Then I can just put it in until I clear the neighborhood and remove it for the rest of the ride. Too bad Yoshi's baffle is not easy to put in and take out.

Got this as a first bike. Feeling it out period was about 500 miles since my work commute is mostly highway, but once you feel it out it's a blast to fling around. Stock tuning wasn't noticeably bad at first, but now that I'm comfortable on it you feel it fall after 10.5k where they nanny it. I'm not a heavy dude but the rear shock settings were too soft from the factory so you may want to play with those a bit. The stock exhaust is a bit pathetic but luckily that's fixable. The TST full light kit/tail tidy is worth it. I got it because once I'm done modding it, I can wring it out and not get a "go directly to jail" card like I would on a zx-6r and it's more comfortable to ride. All in all, I'm extremely happy with it. For the "average rider", they're gonna be upset at the lack of torque. For an enthusiast rider and someone who like twisties, finding the right gear has never been a concern tbh. Might help I've driven manual cars on twisty roads for most of my driving career though.

Thanks for the detailed comment and welcome to motorcycling, the ZX-4RR is a great choice! Does the TST rear lamp have an auto blink brake light function?
@demwillams889816 күн бұрын
Considering one for my first bike as well, for essentially the same reasons you stated; wring it out and not be going 600speeds. I'm completely fine with all bark and no bite on something reving like this. Same reason I bought a yxz vs all the other sxs's (which have much better power/suspension).

I own a ZX4RR KRT, this review is a solid 4/10. Its not for learners, dont be fooled by the low CC you can get yourself in trouble on this. Brakes are strong, like 1 finger is all I need for road riding. A learner panic breaking will get themselves is a big mess real quick. This is a track orientated bike, a second review would be welcomed once you've done a track day or 2 after you've got your run in and tune done. Stay safe and enjoy the summer (I'm down under and its got cold over here!) Edit for grammar

It's definitely more of a beginner sportbike than a 600 or 1,000cc sportbike. This is a great bike for someone who likes to ride in the city, go up and down through the gears without severely breaking the law, losing your license or losing your life like you would on a 600 or a 1,000.
