you could refill the squeeze converter with a syringe, it's much easier to clean than an empty cartridge. the piston converter isn't worth the price since on a normal writing session it wouldn't even last a day

Thanks a lot for your tipp, Elena!

I found this very useful since I have had to buy a kaweco mini squeeze converter to fit a vintage pen. Looks like it will be fiddly but these are the lengths one will go to in order to use old but beautiful pens! Thanks for sharing your experience :)

Thanks for the comment! Glad it was useful!

I think I might just refill the cat ridges with my choice of ink. Great video! Thanks.

The squeeze converter is like the one in the Hero 366 pens. Just a tough bladder no metal. I have the little Kaweco Push pull converter. All my Jinhao pens come complete with a twist converter and free post from China. I have 2 Kaweco's one I use with cartridges and the other with a push pull converter. The Pilot Metropolitan has a squeeze converter that is not transparent but it fills ok.

A little tip for filling the squeeze converter - if you twist instead of just squeezing then greater amount of air inside it will be removed and more ink will be stored, I did the same with all my HERO aerometric converters...just give a try and tell me if it works..

Thanks for the tip! I just got some Heros, and have issues with these as well. So once they need a refill, I will most definetly give this a try!

So does it make sense to remove the nib after the first fill, let the ink run down to the bottom of the converter, expel the air (yes, there's a little ink drippage, just do it slowly), and re-insert the nib into the ink and release and then repeat? I do that with all my pens to get a completely full fill. But these little things....oh my. I think I'll just continue to fill my empty cartridge with the ink of my choice. Thank you for your video!

Thanks for your comment! Yeah true, that is indeed a way to get a full fill. But I do normally also either fill the squeeze converter or an empty cartridge with a syringe or use the piston converter. The piston converter fills fully and neatly. It holds little ink, but for me it suffices.

My friend, I'm not sure that Kaweco have gotten this right - both the squeeze & push-pull converter hold negligible amounts of ink; personally, I'd resort to your original method - eyedropper - primarily because the Sport series are not massive writing instruments in the first instance. Even the short S I cartridge holds more than either of the former - it's a no-brainer. Thank you for the comparison, Michael !! :D

I might try to eyedropper one as I have not done that with any pen before.
@Scrivelynotes6 жыл бұрын
Yeah try. It’s great fun!

It works really well as eye dropper

My gripe with the converter is that because of its size ink tends to be a lot more “stickier” because of surface tension and it impedes ink flow and I end up having to shake the pen whenever writing is interrupted. The only ink that seems to work well with these converters are lubricated ink such as inks from Monteverde. Either that or eye dropper all the way.

You are right. The converter is not ideal.

Can the piston converter be disassembled if needed to grease and cleaning?
@Scrivelynotes6 жыл бұрын
yes!

I think you're getting the same amount of ink through both mechanisms after all. Thank you for the video.

The difference is surely not very significant , yes.

can use this squeeze converter in a sheaffer slim targa

I have not tried it, so I cant say anything about that

It looks like you should squeeze the bulb with two fingers to get most of the air out.
