R.I.P Kay McAbee 17th November 1930 - 8th January 2012. A very talented gentleman who will no doubt be much missed by those who knew him. For the rest of us, we can only mourn the passing of a fine organist and a figurehead for the theatre organ world in America.

His playing is remarkably Brilliant. I wouldn't be surprised he was in the Theater playing for Old time movies and he was the one in the Orchestra pit by himself as he is an Orchestra. Bravo Kay. I also love how the monitor above shows all the keys played during his performance and on which board it was played including the pedals. I just think Theater Organs have to make a comeback. Not many in the world that I am aware of. Thanks for posting this on KZfaq for all to see. I loved it. Have always had an interest in music from time I was a toddler. Played at age 3. I can't read a note but love music and do my best. Kind regards to one and all Merry Christmas from Canada, and Patrick myself.

There has always been something very special about Theatre Organ and Cathedral Organ. I know, the acoustics, but there is more.

I didn't want the song to end.... Reminds me growing up with my father playing a 1960 B-3 Hammond Organ, which I still have. Brings tears of joy to to me listening to this magical music! Reminds me of something from the South Pacific where my father served as a navigator in the US Army Air Corp in WWII

Listened to theater organs on youtube often (as i don't think they exist in bloody Netherlands).... But Kay McAbee playing Tea for Two always sticks into my mind. I see these other organists doing great jobs, especcially at making the Theater Organ sound as impressive as possible, which is not what this man does... He seems to do it easier, but in the mean time, he puts a lot of feeling in it, instead of a lot of noise. Really appreciate him, well i only know him from KZfaq but I really Love to listen Theater Organ pieces, first of all the great (but unfortunately late i understood) Kay McAbee. Start a Kay McAbee channel and i'm a fan.

Yes! This tune is entitled "The Breeze and I." Great instrument and great player. This is music from a bygone era and can only be imagined as it was when played in world class movie houses designed to play silent movies with this massive instrument following all the action! Virtually all of the original "houses" for these instruments have been torn down. The Fox Theater in San Francisco was one of these iconic theaters torn down to make way for "progress," whatever that was! RIP Mr. McAbee! Your music lives on!

Kay sure knew how to make that Kimball sing. I never knew Kay however judging from this video, he appeared to be sharp as a tack to the end.

It's too bad Dickinson High School can't have that console as their third Kimball console, especially now that they have two twin consoles.
