Whistin Waters Outdoors- Its time for a Island Camping series! Me and Bill are headed out Kayak Camping on a remote beach island. Bill decided to use an Old Towne Predator PDL this trip and I'm in my trusty Hobie Pro Angler 12.

Man hammock camping is the way to go if you can find some good trees(which it looked like you had plenty.) cuts down on space and weight and way more comfortable in my opinion. Those two right over the water as you first came up on the island looked good and looked like a beautiful place to wake up in the morning.

Man I agree 100%! This was the 1st time I camped those islands and I wasn’t sure what the tree situation would be like. I’ve got an eno double neat I like to use when I hike.

Speaking of Walmart - go to the Walmart sporting goods area. Look for tent pegs. Find me orange ones that twist into the ground. They're made for sand I'm use them an 85 mile winds and they held great. Now my tent was flopping around like crazy. But it held to the ground.

Lol I started reading the comments before watching the video trying to figure out what island you were going too. I started thinking about this island and thought it would be fun to camp at. Turned out that’s where you were going lol

I have started camping in remote islands around Central Florida east coast and I was just wondering how do you figure out if you can or can not have a fire on a island? What is the risk?

I see you're from my area. You should camp at the mouth from Negro Lake on Tensaw river. There is a camping spot there and from Cliff's it's only about a mile paddle.

Ooh yea! Grew up in daphne and live at the south end of the county now. Man you might be on to something, I used to fish up there a lot in high school and would run by it a lot. I always assumed the current was pretty rough trying to cross over the river

Thanks man! The easiest way is to call wildlife officials in your area and ask them where it’s allowed.

How did the Old Town pedal compared to the Hobie. I would think Hobie was faster.
@KayakingKennedy
@KayakingKennedy 5 жыл бұрын
The old town was actually a little bit quicker when you have enough water to run it. The biggest advantage the Hobie fins have over the old town prop is being able to still use them in shallower water. Being able to flutter step with the fins allows you to keep pedaling when the water gets skinny unlike the prop. Once that prop gets in about 1-1.5ft you have to completely pull the drive and paddle.

Trim excess tarp . Water can get trapped between tarp and tent
@KayakingKennedy
@KayakingKennedy 4 жыл бұрын
Douglas Davis that’s a great point, didn’t think of that. When you say excess are you referring to the bits not directly under the tent?
