Glad I went with blackpak. So many customizable options. I like that blackpak now has a top compartment just like the Tough Crate does.

I’ve used the old DIY Crate, Wilderness Krate, Hobie Hcrate, original blackpak, 13x16 Blackpak Pro and recently upgraded to the 16x16 so I can store tackle and my battery for the Newport motor inside it. Each have had their pros and cons but the ability to customize the blackpak pro has made it the top pick for me. When I used a Revo I turned the 13x16 long ways in the tank well and had the rod holders set up accordingly. Jumped in a newer outback and turned it the wide way and way able to easily swap around where I wanted the rod holders, added bungee on top to hold my rain jacket, some bungee dividers inside to separate tackle boxes, 90 degree mount for the VisiCarbon pro light… so many ways to “Make it Yours”

I have the Toughcrate. It came with my used Hobie PA14 I bought recently. I’m excited to get it out and give it all a whirl. Really great info. I’m having a ton of fun watching all this content and figuring out how to get this all together.

Nice video - love my DIY that is very similar to the tough crate. Spent maybe 20 bucks to make -cover on top. Had it for 3 years with no issues.

Love your videos. I found my flambeau at Wal-Mart on clearance for 15$ without the lid. It's a good kayak crate for the price.

For the price, it's hard to beat the Tuff Krate. I added some paracord to stop the lids from opening too far and added two more rod holders.

Cool video... New sub here, love the Dad jokes too. I'm getting ready to make a crate vid myself..... Waiting on the new halfpaks from Yak Attack to show up. The Wilderness krate is not waterproof or resistant too well, i added door weather strip to mine and it helped out. Good job on the video

Excellent information! I'm not a kayaker, but I do have a 12 foot aluminum boat and I've been looking at using a crate or two to keep my gear and poles organized. This video is very thorough. Nice job!

Honestly, seems expensive for what you get, but the open profile might be better for certain set ups. Doesn’t have enough to call my attention personally.

I was liking that Tuff Krate...until you told me you can't stack 3600s vertically. Deal Breaker. And OMG as I continue watching...$105 for THAT??? Ridiculous. Nevermind. It deal-broke itself... $205 for the Kayak Krate??? OMG again... I'd say that the winner, hands down, is that Blackpak Pro by YakAttack. Not an awful price for something that you can do a lot to. Can you put the rod holders on diagonally on that thing? That would be sweet. PHENOMENAL Video, Jay. NONE of these are right for me and they're probably not right for a lot of guys, so you hit it out of the park at the end by suggesting your other video on building your own. Great work. 👍

Agreed, the price on the kayak krate is WILD for what you get 👎🏽 The tuff krate is a great option but if they made it a hair taller to accommodate those 3600 vertically, it would be on another level. For the last 3 years, my milk crate did everything I needed it to. That thing held everything plus more and handled the abuse I threw at it. So it’s a good option if these aren’t. Appreciate you bro! 🙏🏽

You can buy adapters to put the rod holders on diagonally but they do not come included

No sir. The holes in the gridlock pattern are not all the way through. It’s not water tight, but my gear has stayed dry.

I honestly kinda hate that you can't buy the Flambeau base and add the top later. It's either one or the other, and because of that, I would rather just spend the money out the gate and get the blackpak.
