My favourite time to fish is any time I can go! Lingcod dont care one bit about weather, moons, tide in my experience! some fish are super sensitive but all lingcod want is an easy meal. Also low slack or high slack is often the easiest time to fish for them as you can keep your bait in the target area easier which often gives the illusion of better fishing at those times. Enjoying the videos its great to see a fellow islander catching fish in the waters I grew up fishing.

Glad you like the videos, the more we fish for Lingcod the more we realize like you said it doesn't matter all that much for tides and weather, if you put a bait or swimbait in front of their face and they're hungry it's going in their mouth! They're my favorite fish by far in our waters, I'd take a Ling over a Salmon anyday!

Just a thought, if you mark the legal retention length for lingcod somewhere handy on your kayak you wont have to unfold your bump board while dealing with an angry lingcod. I had the marks on my gaff as well as the side of the boat. Also get the autopilot!

screw the autopilot. don't be lazy. ( i just got a pdl120 too) Loved the video, learned alot. I'm brand new to kayak fishing and so far only a freshwater guy, can't wait for more videos. looking forward to what adventures you guys get up to.

🤣🤣 I do tend to be a bit lazy at times, the pdl 120 is a fantastic machine, don't think an autopilot is in my future I need the exercise where I can get it! Thanks for watching, much more to come as the weather starts getting better.

it is better to wear a wetsuit or a drysuit bro. a friend flipped last year in the ocean. His body temp dropped in minutes. chopper came and took him to the hospital

Appreciate the concern, and hope your friend was alright, drysuit is on the way, the risk is mine to take I don't recommend kayaking on the ocean without a drysuit, or wetsuit at the minumum, yet sometimes I still do it, just like we all know driving with seatbelts on is the safest yet a lot of times people don't. Not denying that you're right, just is what it is. Thanks for watching, stay safe out there!

Great Video. I just moved to Vancouver and I bought a Hobie pedal kayak. If I am reading regulations correct mostly catch and release salmon in spring in Zone 29. It looks like I can crab so I am going to try that to start.

Ya we are non retention here on the island for salmon until July 15, but crabbing from a kayak is a blast too, we have a couple videos coming up on that too. Thanks for watching!

For fishing I use the Navionics app. It's a paid app but highly recommend it. For Crystal to keep tabs on where I am I use the Life 360 app, free and highly recommend it as well. Thanks for watching!

In the process of getting some gear onto it. Am really enjoying your videos and learning some local water and tricks. Thanks for sharing.
