River God 2 The Journey Continues
22-year-old Extreme Kayak World Champion Sam Sutton from New Zealand and the renowned German kayak filmmaker Olaf Obsommer (41) have returned from a kayak expedition around the world. For one year, the two extreme paddlers and their friends of the Adidas Sickline team were searching for the most spectacular runnable whitewater on the planet -- or as kayakers like to say -- for the next „River God". Their strenuous journey takes them to Russia to the remote Altai Mountains in the heart of Siberia, to Iceland, the Kingdom of Waterfalls, and to Chiapas in the South of Mexico. Here they finally find a true River God. Camera: Jared Meehan, Olaf Obsommer Script: Sonja Güldner Hamel Director: Mike Hamel

They dropped the motor and repaired it in the middle of Russia's vast wilderness. Truly an extreme sport. Great video. Thanks.

I was skeptical at first, but those mini buses were impressive. Actually, the drivers who put the engine back together is even more applaudable. But now that Sherps are available, I feel like these expeditions can be much more feasible and convenient for these types of adventures.

You re right, those mini buses look cool and easy to repair anywhere. As well in almost every little village you can buy care spares if needed. But overall it was one of our most uncomfortable rides :-). Thanks for watching it.

The original Russians use homemade paddle catarafts, much of which they would build from what's left in their garage and wood frames they would fabricate at river's edge. Fat back and vodka were the foods of choice at the Russian event. Project RAFT, Russians and Americans for Teamwork, had some great times at some of these events and rivers. Project RAFT sponsored some elite boaters to compete in the US, including a pair oof twins who kicked our asses on the Clackamas event in Oregon, and again in Costa Rica.. Our team was comprised of renowned boaters/guide book authors Lars Holbeck and Jeff Bennett and some Cally WW guides. Still, they beat us. Those guys were tough.
