One thing that I remember worked when my baby was born (my daughter was a little over 3) was telling the baby to wait or that his sister needed me in front of her. For example you can be like “Sean, I am going to put you here in the bouncer because your sister wants me to color with her” or “Sean, Jackson wants to cuddle with me, I am going to put you in your bassinet” even if he cries for a second you can still say “Sean, I will be there in a minute, I am helping Riley right now” I remember seeing my daughter’s face lit up when I would do that, it shows them that the baby also has to wait just like them. Also, I like presenting the situation to her. For example when she wanted me to play with her and the baby needed a diaper change, instead of being like “wait until I change his diaper” I would say out loud “hmm, I have a big girl that wants me to play with her and a baby that is crying and needs a diaper change, what should I do!?” And my daughter would be like “I know! Change his diaper and then bring him and we can play” Little things like this. It’s still an adjustment; and she doesn’t particularly love him now 😂 but at least she wasn’t super jealous at first and it helped with the “big emotions”

One piece of advice I was given that helped was instead of saying "after I feed Sean I will do this with you" you can phrase it as "in 20 minutes I will do this with you!" It helped with my 26 month old. Maybe with both you could try that and then with Riley have you two plan 2 things/activities that just you and her will do together, even if only for 10-15 minutes at a time when Joe has Sean or he's sleeping. It could be super simple but it may make her feel excited that she's planning it with you.🙂

I still only have one little kiddo but someone once told me it is really important with toddlers and older kids to never say things like "we can't go do _____ because baby needs to sleep." Or "blame" something on the baby ( eg "you need to be quiet because the baby needs to sleep"). That way the older siblings don't feel punished because there is a baby now or that the baby is more important than their feelings and desires. I thought it was wise words and plan to keep it in mind once I have my 2nd. I'm sure there will be moments that it won't work but hopfully it'll help my daughter adjust to a little sibling without resentment.

“Do you have another baby in there?” Glad you didn’t get offended with this, coming from innocent Jackson! My MOTHER told me that exact sentence in the delivery room right after I gave birth to my first. I am now pregnant with my second and she tells me I’m getting heavy and need to exercise. Safe to say she is not welcome in the delivery room this time around. Love your videos ❤️

I had a two year 8 month old who was still nursing when baby sister was born, Jr was a really hard transition and I had so much guilt. I made a simple basket with a “friend” stuffed animal, a few books and would put it on the couch with a special cozy blanket and when I would nurse the baby I’d make a big deal and ask him if he wanted to snuggle and read books with me and our “friend” stuffed animal. He absolutely loved it and we found our connection and one in one time even when it was really hard and different

My son was 6 when I had my 2nd child and he too had tantrums (first time ever), big feelings, he took everything so seriously all of the sudden. He loved and helped me a lot with the baby but I saw he was sad as well. We went on long walks with the stroller when the baby had nap time so we could do something together and just talk. My husband spent a lot of time with him, went to the movies, to amusement parks etc. He also spent a lot of time at grandparents. It takes time but everyone will adjust.

They usually say, after birth: 5 days in bed, 5 days near/on the bed and 5 days on the couch. Your pelvic floor needs the rest. My physical therapist would say to me: either sit up or really lie down. Don't spend too much time in the 'half-lounging' position it's the worst you can do for your recovery down there.

I took this so seriously with my 2nd baby (5 days in a hospital bed- baby in the NICU) unless I was nursing him I was lying in bed, once home we did 5 days near the bed where I’d get up to eat, & shower, but baby, toddler & I stayed basically in bed watching TV/movies. Then we moved to the couch for another week 😂 luckily it was peek Covid so we had no visitors and had no where to go. They did doctors appt. Virtually 3rd baby Daddy was on paternity leave for 4 months!!! He took care of the older 2 kiddos, I did similar this time, also kiddos all had Covid that first week so they were daddy buddies & I just had baby. It was very bad flu season so the older kids got Covid, strep, flu a and then a stomach bug, so for like 5 weeks we were all just in bed 😂 it was crazy and all a blur but my recovery wasn’t bad!
@RainyRaven
@RainyRaven 10 ай бұрын
@@citlalliyepez5379 it’s not really where you are but how you position yourself. On a good couch you can also sit quite straight. The most tempting position is: one pillow behind your back (when you look at someone from the side: your butt is not in line with your back/head but slightly forward). It’s tempting because it’s easy to hold the baby in this position. But it’s not good for recovery… that and: standing a lot and walking (up and down stairs).

Maybe in your "free time" (😂) plan something special to do with Riley before bedtime. Discuss the shark show she watched, how to care for her cat one day, making cookies next week, etc. Jackson can be tucked in by dad while you're with her (then of course Jackson)10 minutes one on one can do wonders! Checking into homeschool groups pretty soon too! There are tons of books/ library books on new babies in the family. Encourage her to talk about feelings too. You might downplay sweet little Sean's cuteness and focus on her. When my kids were little, friends and family were encouraged to bring big brother and sister gifts. Babies don't need toys or candy, but their siblings love a little extra attention! ❤❤❤

I started watching your videos as my 2 month old started having reflux around 10 days/2 weeks so I was following your journey with your son. We found probiotics (evivo brand) and cutting out soy really helped his reflux (I'm vegan so already no dairy but usually a lot of soy). As a breastfeeding mama that cup looks amazing. I'm glad to see you and Sean are doing well! Edit: I also liked the boobie bars but it turns out my normal diet is full of the foods that are supposed to support lactation so I had to stop. I ended up with an oversupply. Even at 2 months I pump 8-12 oz in 10 minutes in the morning.

Helpful tip. If you talk to Riley, let her know that you love her, and both of her brothers are the same. You hear her, you understand she’s upset, but that you’re trying to recover. And then maybe when you’re up for it, maybe once or twice a week Include family movie night or music time. Because maybe Ethan they will see that you still want to be with them and you love them. But not only that, and will engage them into music. As well as the baby. It’ll give them and the baby interaction with you and each other!

I know that the belly bands are uncomfortable but I would suggest you try to use them anyway because you don't know if you will develope diastasis recti. My abs snapped back after my first pregnancy, but they didn't after my second pregnancy and I didn't know about binding my belly until I was 10 months post partum. I still looked 6 months pregnant even though I was losing weight everywhere else. Belly binding is for health purposes though, not for asthetic purposes. I felt a huge difference in my back and the flow of my bowels after I started binding my belly and doing light ab exercises.

I also felt sore for awhile because I was taking care of my two year old. I tried not to pick her up, but she got so upset that I ended up picking her up after a few days or so. I’m pretty sure that’s what made me hurt so bad. I find it funny that the doctor and nurses said that my job other than taking care of the baby was to rest. If it’s your first baby, that’s probably doable. Once you have more than one, it can be very difficult. We just don’t really have a culture of helping mothers after birth and are just expected to do it all while trying to let our bodies heal.

Hi Kayla , congratulations on your 3 rd baby. He s super cute. I hope you recover soon and also have a healthy and happy family. I had a question, pls don’t mind me asking. Are you still buying the toy subscription kits like (lovevery or kiwico or something else) for riley and Jackson. I have a son same age as Jackson and I will have a new born next February. Just curious if the subscription kits will be worth for my new born? I dint store many toys of my son so I will have to repurchase all of them.

You are not alone my son is too and it's three months since I gave birth to my daughter he has still not gotten used to her and I think it will take more several months for him to get used to her and go back to how he used to act when he was an only child especially since he was only the only one he got all the attention and that's what made it harder I bet with Riley when you had Jackson it felt like that or I don't know if it's worse now

A suggestion is to place the baby cushion (the dockatot), the one he sleeps in when on the sofa in the crib near your bed.Thats what i did with mine… at the moment for them the baby crib is too big and doesnt feel snug to them… place it in it and put Sean in it so like that he is tightly placed and does not feel loose in it. Thats how my little one used to sleep in it and he loved it…

Sean looks just Like Riley!!!!! All his facial expressions are adorable!!!!! You have a beautiful family Joe and Kayla you guys are very very lucky!!!!!!!!! Not everybody gets a third little one!!!!!!! My third baby died so to an ectopic pregnancy!!!!!!!!!! That is where the egg is fertilized and it implants in your tube instead of the uterus and mine ruptured and debris went everywhere and they don’t have the technology to remove the egg and transplant it in your uterus which is sad bc I was 12 weeks into that pregnancy when it t ruptured and killed out little baby!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I stilll hurt for that little baby and what might have been if it had went into my uterus I already had 2 little girls under the age of 2 and that little baby and my youngest and the baby had it lived my 2 would of been 11 months apart!!!!!!! So I would of had 3 under the age of 21/2 which would of been awesome but god needed a tiny little angel and he got one!! Mine!!!!!!! We loved that little baby so much and I think about that baby almost every day!!!!!!!!!! But I’m so happy for your precious little boy!!!!! You guys are so so lucky to have 3 young kids that are healthy!!!!! That is such a blessing from god!!!!!!!!!!.Enjoy your little baby!!!!!! x

Natural family planning seems like you’re leaving it up to god or chance whether ur body recovers properly from a pregnancy, whether u can continue a career that you love n doesn’t allow u to stay at home like you do, whether u can comfortably manage financially, I think it sounds too risky for a woman to be able to live a full life that is not only about childcare n physical n mental stress n pressure, but to each their own of course! Just my two cents 😊

Maybe he's just one of those babies that has difficulty sleeping on his own. I know my son was like that in the beginning. Plus, they say you can't spoil a newborn and you'll never get this time back, so why not snuggle them while you can? There's plenty of time to get them used to the crib later. P
