I really question my whole existence when I end up watching an old man eat shitty food from truck stops

As a son of a truck driver I love the community. Everyone for the most part are very friendly, and love the road. Even now when I visit truck stops on my travels with friends they still remember from when I was a kid, and occasionally tell me my dad was just in the area. They take care of their own. My dad always tries to help if its something he can do if he sees someone having trouble. Even if its just help with a meal. The truck stop in Iowa is great I love it.

I have recently discovered your channel, Ken. I'm a trucker from Tennessee and used to run between the GTA and Detroit frequently. Been to the Flying J many times. Great place to stop, good parking, showers (free with 50 US gallons or 200 liters, or around $15 if no fuel) and...food! I too heartily recommend the Canadian Benedict! Canadians have a reputation for being friendly and most I have met uphold that well. I miss going to Canada sometimes but my current operation keeps me closer to home, so that's nice. I do need to pop into Timmie's for a Double-Double and a crueller though. Our US brands just aren't the same. Cheers!

Flying J is a lifesaver, ate at the restaurants many times, but their random food in the convenience store part is also good. Spicy chicken pieces for breakfast at 9am.

If you got no Calf as meat youll have to Name it Wiener Style Schnitzel. Do me a favour and visit Germany for the good food and great food communitys!

the flying j looks like it really knows how to run a great business. the harvest restuarant food looks fantastic. i love your review - surely unique focusing on truck stops etc. there are not enough places for truckers to pull in to. good luck on your travels.

Eggs benedict i just love them ,,,"ohh my" have with bacon aswell, i feel hungry now ,teasing it is.number one as usual.

Fried egg, toasted sourdough bread, copious amounts of butter, fried bacon, waffles with copious maple syrup/butter, whipped cream, bacon bits, and a strong coffee with good quality creamer.

Three fried eggs and steak and home fries and strawberry jam and toast.

I'm from the Netherlands, and all the foods they serve in the US and Canada really intrigue me haha. Thanks for the awesome videos Ken, stay healthy!

These videos I love because they show more of the blue highways of North America as well as unique places to visit and different venues for eats. I’d have oj,coffee double double of course,poached eggs on the runny side bacon and rye toast. I like balsamic dressing and Al Capone’s nickname was Scarface.

I can't wait to see you checking out Iowa. I grew up there before moving to Buffalo, NY a few years ago. You'll be near Davenport - if you get a chance check out The Iowa Machine Shed restaurant for a good mid-western meal. It's a really good farmer - farm to table restaurant. If you plan to head to the capital Des Moines, you have to check out Zombie Burger. Their original location in downtown is all zombie themed. They have a mall location in Coralville which is about 45 minutes away from the truck stop you mentioned. It's the same food, you just don't get the full theme experience. They have unique burgers and definitely get a basket of fries with Zombie Sauce. If you want to continue the gas station theme Casey's General Store is a BIG deal in Iowa known for their pizza takeout. You can find a Casey's in almost every small or big town in Iowa. Also in Des Moines if you want something really interesting, check out Fong's Pizza - crab rangoon pizza, kung pao chicken pizza and General Tso's chicken pizza. They were featured on The Travel Channel's Pizza Paradise a few years ago. Have fun.

I like the homestyle pan fried with onions is my potato choice..never tried them eggs..looked awesome.

Being a retired long haul trucker, I do occasionally take a load for a friend that runs out of hours and needs it delivered on time.

I 80 truck stop in Iowa? Looking forward to it. Truck stops are a happy/sad phenomenon. Truckers are grateful to shower, eat and relax, and yet it's never home.

I used to travel with my grandfather in his truck all over and my favorite truckstop food is at the petro iron skillet

I dont know, I'd ask for some garlic salt, or something to taste up those sad, bland, cafeteria looking vegetables. That and pepper. Something.

Yes I been there numerous times and it is a very big facility last time I was there was back in 2010 but since then they revamped the place and added on new additions but it's like a whole city in itself.

That's just near to me. I live in Kitchener Ont and I used to love going to Tu Lane truck stop just near Cambridge Ont. They had the 24 hour breakfast that I loved and the roast beef dinner. They had the regular portion and the truckers portion. It was huge. They closed down about 15-20 years ago. There's nothing like Canadian bacon(back bacon). They were last of the small mom and pop truck stops. There is just big corporate stops now. Glad you liked our Canuck hospitality. Like everywhere you'll have good and bad services from people. Glad you had a good experience.

I once walked in on 2 gay truck drivers making out with eachother in the washroom. Everything in that gas station food wise is trash. Coffee is trash and the gas is the only thing id buy. The gas station pizza there is complete garbage. Soggy floppy greasy uncooked. Absolutely disgusting

I know I'm late to this video really late but my favorite breakfast is the most basic breakfast three strips of bacon 3 scrambled eggs butter toast and strawberry jam and of course the Mojo in the cup I prefer Folgers

I love a runny egg served on top of a pancake, no syrup or butter on it.

My favorite breakfast.... bacon eggs over easy sourdough toast and hash browns. Make a sandwich with the toast and drizzle it with tabasco hot sauce
