Lady finger is full of vitamins and very good for health. Lady finger ( Bhindi ( Hindi) - Vendakka in Malayalam -) even though rich in vitamins, some people avoid to eat as it has the sticky element.
If we take care of few things while cooking, the Lady finger will be very tasty and there won't that sticky feeling. Lets learn to cook the Lady finger or bhindi with crisp and taste.
Ingredients:
Lady Finger : 200 gm
( Bhindi/Vendakka)
Garlic : 10 pieces
Onion : 1 Medium
Dry Chilly : whole 4
Dry Chilly : crushed - 1 spoon
Mustard seeds : 1 spoon
Turmeric powder : 1/2 spoon
Grated Coconut : 1/2 cup
Method:
Wash the lady finger and remove the water with a clean cloth, slice it in thin pieces. Add 1 table spoon of coconut oil and crackle the mustard seeds once the oil becomes hot. Add garlic, dry chillies ( Vattal mulak) onion and fry till it becomes golden brown. Add turmeric powder and crushed dry chilly mix well, add curry leaves. Saute a little more and add lady finger ( vendakka). While cooking the lady finger it should be on medium of high flame to avoid it to be sticky. Fry vendakka a little more and add grated coconut, mix well and the vendakka thoran is ready
