Someone who isn’t getting mentioned a lot but deserves a lot of praise is Varane. 6 goals conceded in 1.5 games without him on the pitch vs 2 goals in 4.5 games with him on the pitch. He is the calm to Martinez’ storm and a great balance to have those two together

Actualy is the opocite. Varane looked super insecure with Mcguire. When he started with Martinez he has regain confidence again because Martinez actualy can play with his feets lol. He is the first pass out of De gea or the LB or RB... gives you tranquility

@@jaansa86 Our record with Maguire and Varane starting is actually pretty decent. Points per game: 1.67/Win rate: 40%/ Loss rate: 13% Without Varane: Points per game: 1.44/Win rate: 41%/Loss rate: 38% When Varane got injured is when results went downhill last season. I would argue he’s our most important player. He can cover for Martinez in the air because of his excellent positioning and is a calming presence. Martinez has been excellent but imo Varane has been the catalyst since the Brentford game at the back

@@thuli9490 actualy 40% win its very bad for a team like Man U that wants to play UCL and win the premier. Thats around 8th place last year 😵💫. You need around 60% to secure UCL and 80% wins for the title or at least to have chances. I think Man U have a pretty good team but in long run against City for example i dont think is enoghft

Those are arguably the two greatest managers of all time. 55% wins with a few draws would get 75 points and enough for champions league. Agree we are miles off City but what it shows is that we lose far less games when Varane plays

Martinez for being a small defender has been a giant since he came to Man Utd. Him and Erikson have both been superb. Maguire should have been sent out on loan somewhere. Getting rid of toxic player like Pogba is what Utd needed.

The group looks rejuvenated and reinvigorated. The whole team is playing together more cohesively and you can see how much they’re enjoying playing together. After all the outgoings during the summer, this looks like a more disciplined and focused side.

@@PrimeRickSanchez Yeah, Van Gaal seemed to think creating 2 chances in a game and scoring from at least one of them while not letting the opposition score a single goal was a perfectly functional strategy. He also relied heavily on moments of individual brilliance to create anything other than safe sideways passes, but punished anyone who tried and failed to do something other than what he'd ordered... The man was completely bonkers!

@@alexpieters2345 Van Gaal's squad wasn't bad when he got it, the problem was he took an instant dislike to certain players and got rid of them the first time they made a mistake, and replaced them with inferior versions, like Rafael/Darmian, Nani/Memphis, or Welbeck/Wilson.

Imagine having Yorke and Cole on the pitch and being able to sub them off for solkjear and Sheringham that's what sir Alex was great at, having great players believe in a team enough to sit on the bench. Hopefully, Ten Haag can convince Ronaldo that being on the bench for the team is a great thing for him and united.

There was a point in this game where I wanted Rashford to come off and then he scores 2 goals you can't really defend against. You can see why Ronaldo was dropped now. These players suit Ten Hags style of play. Players, like Shaw, Maguire, Lindlelof and co will struggle to get back into this team.

They won't struggle to get back into the team. There's going to be 3 games a week soon and there's 5 subs available. We're gonna see a lot more of them whether we want to or not. No player is able for 3 games a week for months on end. God help us if we pick up injuries on the back line. If we don't rotate we will pick injuries.

Rashford was poor until ETH pushed him left. Did same against liverpool to similar effect. ETH is obviously a clever manager. Rashford is not a CF, never will be...but he CAN score for fum making runs from the left

Shaw will definitely get back in, if he gets back on form. Malacia has been great but he seems limited in attack and Saka ran him a couple times.

Agree with most of the analysis here. We needed to go back to basics and start playing better without the ball while nailing down on the player organisation and discipline. Erik has done a good job in such a short time when it comes to those issues because they are in fact the most difficult issues to face. The next stage is controlling the ball and controlling the flow of the game which will result in increased belief and momentum. Excited to see this new direction from the boss! Thank you Erik!

Still SO MUCH work to do, there was a lot of moments where we looked open defensively but Arsenal didn’t have the cutting edge in and around the box. We will still have some real lows this year but I think there can be genuine hope for top four again

clearly CR7S substitution was absolutely turned the match around , Arsenal started playing higher line in defence and these Two goals showed that United used that perfectly By far the best thing Erik did in the game

They were literally giving no chance to United, Ten Hag and their new signings three weeks ago. Now that they got some results, they've changed their tune. I believe this is common for failed managers that don't understand the journey and can't put together a long term plan. It feels like Arsenal fan tv on a bigger platform.

I think ten hag will understand how to play against different teams, united have got the players eriksen/Fernandes to open teams up, and players like sancho/Antony will cause problems and open up space. Rashford is getting better now but I think if Ronaldo gets in and in proper form, it could be a good season.

i think the solid defence had started a strong foundation for the rest of the team to build on. midfield is much more comfortable moving forward and the team trusts each other which builds structure and pace.

Best thing about United now is all of our goals have come from open play. We were struggling to score from open play since few years. We have to improve on scoring against low block teams and then we'll be taking about an explosive team in the league.

Eirk's willingness to adapt his system (even though he doesn't like playing like this) according to the players that he has, is sign of a top coach/manager- masterclass. No other manager will do it.

Manchester United have always been a counter attacking team, it's in the dna. They've always been a team who allow the opposition to have the ball, so this performance for me was very classic Manchester untied, onwards and upwards hopefully.
