They sure did. The Oxblood delivers everything the official quote above says it will and then some. The Phat switch gives you a choice of two cutoff filters (Phat and not-so-Phat) the clipping switch offers two eminently useable clipping types - mythical and magical (of course!)
Clean to mean, rich and midrangey, the Oxblood is a pedal for the masses as its legacy is already proven and it simply offers that same legacy and then some. Try it, you'll like it.

tomorrow it comes. this review sold me on it. I can't stand where they only show how crunchy a pedal gets. I'm a fiend for a good clean base tone

Great demo- thanks for making it. Yours and one or two others were influential in my decision to get an Oxblood. Terrific pedal and I have enjoyed gigging it. I had a 30 minute try out at home, stuck it on my board and took the plunge on a gig. Superb pedal and I find myself using similar settings to those you use at the beginning. I too have a Laney though mine is a VC30.

The clean boost seems to freshen it right up-but the crunch boost really brings it out-noice!

Is there some slight compression on it?

+Jin Jung There will be a little compression when the amp is dirty, yeah. More gain or level from the pedal will send an already breaking up amp into further compression usually. There's also a Waves Limiter on the output master of Pro Tools. That might be squeezing a little although I try to leave enough headroom in my mixes to avoid too much gain reduction.

+Brian Cullen it's a "transparent overdrive", or "parallel overdrive". Those two names, the ox head drawing, the three knobs, the sound it delivers, plus the fact that they call it their "response to kloning" (note the K), all of this points to a KLON. If you don't know what a KLON is, google it, and be amazed at the price asked for them....

+Laurent Toussaint Hi there! It is not based on a KLON circuit It is an original design. Check out our 3 day design event on Instagram where we developed the circuit over three days. It is designed to be a parallel type of circuit with a true-clean boost. It is mid focused. None of the drive circuit is the same at all. I do want people to see that it is comparable to the Klon in terms of performance in fact I think it wins hands down.
