I get lots of goldfinches in the garden. Wish there were more bullfinches out there in the wild. But would consider breeding a few. Used to breed budgies. But the way they chewed and bit at the aviary, made them a proper maintenance job. Finches look much less destructive though. good vid...thank you

Same here mate, picking the odd piece of material up every now and again but the temperature is all over the place here at the min. It was -1 last night and now it's blue skies and 16 degrees in my bird shed. They're in a 10 foot long flight which is 7 foot high and 3 foot wide. Do you think I should add wicker baskets for nesting as they currently only have a choice of 3 nesting sites which are all canary pans lightly covered by some natural foilage I've put up? I've got them on skygold goldfinch mix and they're having wild dandelion every day which they can't get enough of. Fingers crossed I get some results 👍 cheers

My pet canary died of old age. 😢. I would like a new bird and am thinking about goldfinches. Is their care similar to a canary as a pet? Are they better kept as a pair, and if so will the male still sing or woould they fight at breeding time? Or do you think a canary / goldfinch mule would make a better single pet bird?

Sorry to hear that, I’d suggest a canary goldfinch mule would be better for keeping than a goldfinch. The goldfinch requires a different seed mix and is prone to quite easily succumb to illness

@@TheCanaryRoom Thank you. I seen a few video of the mules singing...and they sound lovely. Some also look quite like a goldfinch. I think I will go with a goldfinch mule. They sound nicer than a canary to me, and they might be tamer and more hardy then a pure goldfinch.

Watch the wild goldies and never be to eager to remove the young. Goldies rely on a top up from parents even when feeding themselves

I'm breading a hen bully with a cock breading finch are day better off in a flyte it 7 ft in height and 10 ft length any tips first have since I'm 10 I'm 31 now my Owen house and iv linnets lovely red all down um but want to bread a good few year just watches ya your good with birds but first breading Goldy bullys any tips be happy
