I often overthink, and I'm often overambitious. Sometimes, you only need a pleasant evening with the large format camera at the seaside.
No long drive, hike, or grand plan of a masterpiece.
This is a reminder to myself that effort doesn't equal results. An overcast day at the seaside can produce equal, if not better, photographs as if you've hiked 10 000 miles. Landscape photography doesn't need to be hard!
I invite you to tag along on this rather short landscape photography outing with my large format camera. Nothing special, just keeping it simple, and still perhaps my best large format image to date.
Love,
Oscar

I just went back to LF after 30 years. It wasn't as easy as I thought and my fingers were clueless.

I feel with you. It's fun though, and way more tactile than 35/mf/digital, which I really enjoy.

Hi, nice video. I have been shooting large format for a year now and I still have more duds than keepers but that ratio is beginning to turn as I spend more time contemplating the composition before pressing the shutter. Keep going as it is worth it!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm already in love with LF. Love the fact that it's a bit cumbersome, and there's something addictive with those large negatives.

You might consider lowering the height of the camera. I see so many LF photographers with their tripods fully extended. I could never figure out as to why.

Comfort! That's the reason, fully extended places the ground glass in the most comfortable position (at least for me). Anyhow thanks pointing it out! It is usually a good idea to vary the height of the tripod and your point of view. I myself get lazy as many of us do.

@@O.Persson I’ve been enjoying your videos. I’m envious of your locale. Being so close to open sea. The only time we see any water movement is when the barges head down the river or Louisiana is getting hit with a hurricane. Your work is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

@@Papou_Pete thanks mate! I appreciate the support. I feel you, something about grass beeing greener... I myself wish for some mountains. But I try to make the most of what I have somewhat close to my area.

@@O.Persson I had an art teacher tell me if you’re not seeing anything interesting change your altitude. Most people reflexively go higher. I have a small dog and 2 cats. I like their view of the world. From the 70’ through the early 90’s I spent a good amount of time climbing mountains and a couple of glaciers. That I miss the most. Looking forward to your next vid. Cheers

Tripod is too high! Though this tends to be a small format thing - it's a damn sight easier.

Varying tripod height is a good advice. I myself have a tendency to get a bit lazy when shooting LF, and keep it high as it's the most comfortable position (for me). But then again I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to large format.
