My father was ill for a long time before he died. He lost interest in almost everything. However, the one thing that kept him going and laughing was Keeping Up Appearances. When medicine failed, the series succeeded. A big thanks to the wonderful cast for providing light for my father at the end of his life.

Thank you so much. 😃👍 I am glad this series made your father happy during his illness and gave him a good reason to live and ease his pain and sorrow. There is something very family in this series. They all pretending to be Loving family members that care about each other. Of course we the audience all over the world, we knew the truth and that they were just pretending to be loving family. But they still needed each other for their daily life. We also needed them for our daily life. We loved this funny, British, intelligent 😄 🤣 series. I wish you Good Health, Happiness and never to have any sadness in your life, Efrat. Israel 💕 🇮🇱

@adrianbradley8513
@adrianbradley8513 2 жыл бұрын
Yea I remember that episode. What was REALLY funny was the fact that Hyacinth was do blinded by snobbery that she didn't logically think that there could be another reason why Onslow was on the ship. As far as I remember he won the cruise in a competition. Hyacinth probably thought that somebody of that "social status" wouldn't have the brains to win a competition. Sadly there are TOO many people in the world as snobby as that.👎

This was a T.V. show that translated to other people's cultures very easily (Benny Hill being the best). We have had some great comedy over the years that people of other nations just can't get (two Ronnies as its mainly a play on words). Keeping up had strong acting with facial expressions along with movement like chasing down the street. It was as much of a success in other nations as it was in the U.K. showcasing how British it was. The plots were simple as was the storyline but with strong defined characters brought to life by quality actors.

I worked on a restoration project of Judy Cornwells house in Sussex over 20 years ago. Her and her husband were really nice people. She was also a writer & i still have a signed copy of one of her books she gave me while working there.

Loved the show and so did my husband. Missed it when the series finished here in Auckland New Zealand. Best ever was the neighbour getting a cup of tea from the lady of the house and shaking like a leaf! ♥️

Now this is on iplayer I love to watch a couple of episodes before bedtime, loved it when it first came out and still love it today. Like others I think the best episode was the QE2 one with the best line coming early on, its the only time Hyacinth acknowledges Richard's surname properly. They get lost and stuck in mud and when she has to push the car out she screeches in a common voice 'you'll pay for this, Richard BUCKET!!' . Such a great show, thanks for doing this.

My pleasure! Yes, it seems that the QE2 episode is most people's favourite.

“Keeping up Appearances” was very funny 😁 and surprisingly true to life!! Patricia Routledge made the right decision to make no more episodes. That is the mistake some comedies make ... they went on too long. “Keeping up Appearances” is still a delight!🥰

My husband and I loved this show and so did my younger daughter. My daughter and I would sit and die laughing at Hyacinth! It always killed me whenever her father would think it was the War and wouldn’t let anyone come near him. Then Hyacinth would show up. “DADDY!!!!” And her father would immediately drop his rifle and surrender!!! BTW, what is the music that’s playing here? I love it!

Hi Catherine. The music is a royalty free track called King's Hall by Cercles Nouvelles.

Absolutely one of my favorite shows! It's surprising that most of the cast has birthdays in February.

My favourite show, I love all the characters who I'm sure loved playing the series and had a great deal of fun. I've watched the series on my iPad regularly during lockdown in Melbourne , and happily found it available when I switched on my TV last night.

Always enjoyed this program...the cast was stellar. Always had a crush on Ms. Routledge after seeing a young hip version of her later self....in the classic movie..."To Sir With Love" back in the day. She was quite "dishy" for an impressionable 22 year old. Ah...those were the days!
