I started out with the All Rounder, but after getting the Snub Nose I never used the All Rounder again. They're both great and work well, but I found the conical shape helped compact the trub better and I was able to get more beer out of the Snub Nose (as you mentioned also). My only complaint is the little attachment ring on the Snub Nose filter tends to snap off pretty easily - and the dry hop port is too small to really be useful so I just take the whole lid off and dump hops in when I need to. Good in-depth comparison 👍

Thanks for the informative video. I have a SN and have never had an all-rounder. One bit of caution that I can offer is to be extremely careful with the SS ball lock fittings on the SN. I was careful but I still managed to strip the threads on the liquid post. I added ptfe tape which helped keep in pressure but one day, when I was moving it, I barely touched the liquid fitting and it blew off along with about a gallon of wort before I could stop it (it was under a few PSI). A replacement lid would be a simple, inexpensive fix, BUT, Keg King sells in the US through a single distributor and there are no accessories, like a spare lid, available. If I could get a replacement lid, I would switch to the plastic ball lock fittings to help prevent stripping the plastic threads on the lid.

Awesome comparison. Answered a lot of questions for me. On removing my all rounder lid. I slacken the collar just a bit. Pressurise with a small amount. When the collar goes tight I turn a bit. Wait for it to go tight again then turn a bit more. It doesn’t pop off but as the collar lifts the air comes out of the edge and the lid starts to move with the collar. Then just remove everything.

I have 2 allrounders and they serve me well. No issues yet and i do that trick with leaving some pressure until the lid starts moving. I believe that a thermowell ( that is available at a cost) mounted would give a similar funktion but i never needed it... A nice and informative video as usual! 😀🍻

I have 3 Allrounders. They fit in my Kegerators which I use as fermentation fridges. When I looked at the snubsnose I found they would not fit. Also as the Allrounder opening is larger and as it is shorter than the snubnose it makes it very easy to put your arm in to clean.

I have the KegLand tri-conical which i got on a blackfriday deal from maltmiller for a similar price. Pressure fermenting has been a game changer from using buckets. I agree, i dont think you would be disappointed with either Kegking or Kegland pressurised products. Thanks for video

Nice comparison video mate. I haven’t used any keg king products personally but I’ve got a 30L and a 60L all rounder and really impressed with them. I use the temp twister, heat pad and jacket and have great results with temperature control. Love all the accessories available.

I have also recently replaced my All-rounder with a Snub-nose Apollo as it seems that slightly more beer can be taken and transfered to a keg.. The plastic on the snub-nose seems more solid and sturdy. I brew in my back yard then ferment in the garage and the first time I tried to carry the full fermenter between the two I managed to fall over and it crashed to the ground. However it was completely undamaged and I saved the full fermenter of beer. So full marks to the snub-nose for strength, it does seem more solid. As to its size, it fits easily into a family-size fridge. In future the snub-nose will be my first choice and the fermzilla will be for use as a second fermenter.. Finally no-one happy with fermzilla needs to think of changing over, the final product will be every bit as good.

I've been using the snub nose for a couple of years now. Fits in my fridge fine. I just removed a quarter section of the base. The PET is thick, very solid. The hop port seal design needs improvement. Needs to be tight to prevent pressure loss, but over tightening will cause issues also. I don't tend to pressure ferment any more, there are too many interesting yeast esters to play with these days. All In all, I love the snub nose and will consider future iterations.

Thanks for the nice comparison video. I can just about get the apollo snub nose into an undercounter larder fridge by placing it in a small fermenting bucket (flower pot would also work). Some adjustments were needed to raise the bucket and fermenter due to the compressor hump (book worked as a quick fix). This fridge is quite large for an undercounter (131 L) so imagine many models would struggle to contain it. Happy enough with the fermenter but twice had issues with the lid becoming loose during fermentation. Would be nice if replacement parts and accessories (Quickie in particular) were readily available in the UK. Haven't seen them stocked anywhere.

Great comparison! The filter on the SN is something that I will stop using in the future. Have had two brews where it got stuck and no beer coming out. My closed transfers turns sour 😢

I have the original kegland 27Lt, but as I wasn't using the collection jar I thought about the allrounder. After seeing comments about stability I decided against it. Had to wait quite a long time for the Keg king snub nose. I like the thermowell as a guide for the dip tube. I don't use the thermowell for my control sensor, I found the temperature is more stable with the sensor stuck to the side, (I noticed this when I started using my Rapt pill). I don't like screwing a stainless steel post onto a plastic thread, I do use a bit of PTFE tape to protect it I would have preferred if the post were bulkhead fitting type. I know from your previous video that they are developing a stainless steel lid which I will invest in. With both kegland and keg king fermenters I always remove the lid for dry hopping so that's not an issue for me. If kegland had made a snub nose I would have gone with that. I actually prefer the kegland lid and plastic posts, I've never had any trouble getting a seal in the three and a half years I've had them, and I've never had to lever at the lid off. I just loosen the collar a small amount till the pressure starts to lift the lid be released the pressure before removing it. At the moment if I had to purchase another fermenter it would be the snub nose. 🍻

Great feedback thanks, I have heard other people express concerns about the plastic to metal thread interface but I guess the counter to that is it shouldn’t ever need to be overtightened as the seal is formed by the o ring under the dip tube, that said I would definitely upgrade to the SS lid as well if it is reasonably priced! I have also noticed that the temperature swings more using the thermowell I have not decided yet whether that bothers me enough to go back to sticking the sensor to the side. I think there must be some variation with the fit on the lids and the carb caps as both the lids I have are a very tight fit and I have had a mixed bag with the carb caps, a couple that never sealed properly at all and basically went straight to the bin

The accessories are a big plus point for Kegland tbf, I must admit I am a little concerned about availability of spare parts if anything does break on the snubby…

I bought my snubnose just over 12 months ago and my 2 all rounders were instantly retired to a shelf in the garage. It’s a better build quality, I no longer need to use ptfe the fittings to ensure it holds pressure, the top comes off without having to use a screwdriver to lever it off and the dip tube that follows the central thermowell is genius in its simplicity, only downside from my experience is the handles are a little bit sharp but overall I think it’s a superior product.
@DudesBrews
@DudesBrews 4 ай бұрын
I didn’t really get into the handles on either but they both annoy me a bit! I’d much prefer some metal handles integrated into the stand for the snubby as it isn’t often I want to actually lift it from the top when it is full of beer. Thanks for confirming a very similar experience to me

What I find annoying with the all-rounder is the actual roundness of it, it can easily roll on its side. I use straps on it to secure it properly and once they are in place it's not a big problem but it's a little bit of a fiddle.

I have 1 x 30l AR and 3 x 60l ARs. The bases are the same and you can imagine how unstable the 60l is when empty. Straps are a must have unless you want them scratched to fuck

Very informative, thank you. What are your thoughts on the expiration dates? When I purchased my all rounder, it only had a year lifespan, where it says do not use pressurised after 2023. I still use it now...
@DudesBrews
@DudesBrews 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think the expiration dates are more about the company covering themselves in the event of failure. If you fill the FV to brim with water and apply 35psi and it holds without damage or going pop then according to their own instructions you are good for another year with the recommendation to repeat that test annually

I do like my all-rounder, with the added benefit of the hop bong. How do you find the snub nose 👃 for dry hopping? looks a very awkward sized port for drying hopping.
@DudesBrews
@DudesBrews 3 ай бұрын
The port is just about usable with a funnel but its a pain for anything with a significant dry hop tbh, I have made use of it so far but tbh I have no issues just popping the lid and then throwing hops in with a quick purge anyway as thats what I always did with the all rounder and had no issues with oxidation
