Is there anyone else here who think that this is the best view for players and coaches to analyse what pro players are doing during tennis? I wish all pro matches would show this perspective at lease 50% of the match. Isn't as dramatic as watching the overhead perspective, but so much more useful to watch.

i've had the same thought while watching AUS OPEN as i've wanted to see how Federer and Djokovic differ in their forehand hitting. I think it's a conspiracy :) they don't want club recreational players to imitate their idols to perfection, as that would mean a less interest in future telecasts of grand slams, who would watch Djokovic if everyones perfectly hitting those 2handed backhands?

+Aki79 Nah, this angle looks crap if it's broadcasted 'cause the guy in front will look bigger than the guy at the far end etc. If it was actually good, all the pro filmmakers and videographers would've figured it out by now, and they've had atleast 50 years. Look at the clip when Federer was getting net rushed by Del Potro at the US open 2009... seems they only had this clip in this low perspective. The camera had to pan/tilt constantly, the balls and Federer was constantly out of view, and it was kinda hard to see what the ball was doing and where it was gonna land. If it was 50% of the match people would get pissed off especially if they paid the expensive subscription for it. You wanna learn, film these guys yourself with your own camera, and get a coach.

imo i think they show the wide angle because of the adverstising banners! if they show this angle the ads wont be showed much only a little and those sponsors paid alot of money for the tourneys...... just my opinion could be wrong

@CRAIGLSANDERS

It is said that Nishikori uses Western grip on the forehand side. A full western means the 1st knuckle, i.e., is on bevel #5

i saw a comment below, that someone would think this is a 4.0 or 5.0 player if they don't see the name in the title. Maybe the source of the comment is a 5.0 or hasn't really hit the ball not even once. I agree with one comment, see the Racquet Speed and the Spin. That is not EASY to do.

THis video is amazingly ordinary to me. I know how good he is and what he did last weekend at the Open but if I did not know that I would think college player or real good high school kid. So many short balls, missed vollies that pros do not miss, etc. It must be real hard to be a good scout.

imateapot51 What level do you play at? I'm NOT trying to diss on you at all with this comment, just point out what I know to be true personally: without a level of expertise and experience at least somewhat in the ballpark of professional players it's pretty much impossible to watch a few shots or points and pick out exactly what the difference is between #10 and #500 in the world. They're all amazingly, amazingly talented. Somebody who's never tried tennis can watch Federer and say "what's the big deal? He's just hitting the ball over the net", which I've heard people say many times watching the best in the world. I'm not saying you've never played or you're a beginner, but for us mere mortals it can be difficult to see exactly how good a professional players skills are without looking at a win/loss record.
@imateapot51
@imateapot51 10 жыл бұрын
I am not a beginner, and I know I would not get a point off this guy. My point is things can look misleading. I know he is just practicing but he must have been pretty sore to hit so many short balls. And yes I agree that even the 800th player in the world would be amazingly talented. Compare this video to the one of Nadal practicing. The difference is huge. I think I was actually dissing myself - this guy made it to the Open finals and I don't see how. I predicted Novak would be great at the same time Federer was saying he was nothing special so at least I got that one right.

Oh I agree. I did. This video popped up on my what to watch and I did not even read the title when I clicked on it. So I was surprised when it was Kei. I think it shows that when we watch pros to see what they are doing with their techniques we should be watching them play actual matches, not practicing.

In Nadal's biography he said that in practice it's hard to tell a top 20 player from a top 200 player. It's when they are put to the test then they shine.
