You need to show that guy the Beat. If he thinks the van is cool, he will go nuts over the Beat.

The guy did a great job and has a work ethic that's rare today. Kudos to him. With some tools and developed skills, you can do the detailing work yourself. It's gratifying. It's fun to buy a crapped out vehicle that was a neglected daily beater in Japan, show it some love and restore it to its like-new glory, then add some customizing for its second life in the US. But hey, I'm one to talk. I haven't even washed my Hijet truck. It still has the yellow Japanese farm dirt ground into the interior texture, but I did clean that yellow farm dirt from inside the lenses when swapping to LED bulbs... and I sanded and painted the windshield wiper arms which took ten minutes. 😛

I actually been looking for LED bulbs do you know the parts numbers or links

@@Waybeforethefame - I spent $106 on LED lighting for the Hijet, not including the LED light bar for the front or the four LED lights for the rear headache rack, two to illuminate the cargo bed and two to light up the area behind the truck. It adds up! Headlight Relay Harness (B078XV8PL7) $18.99 LED Headlights (B01MXJD0Y7) $36.79 Electronic Flasher (B0811GTVH2) $8.00 Flasher Leg Extensions (B0195V03H4) $6.90 2 @ 1157 LED Bulbs - Brake / Rear Running (B071DCC7XL) $15.99 5 @ 1156 Turn Signals Front/Rear & Backup (B09QYBY1Q4) $19.29 4 @ 194 LED Bulbs Front Running/Turn (B09C8VV18B) $9.99 LED turn signals cause the dreaded hyper flash. It's possible to fix that with ballast resistors connected across each LED turn signal but a much better solution is to replace the bimetallic flasher with an electronic flasher. The electronic flasher was a bit too large to fit in the molded well in the fuse block so I needed to order some quick disconnect connectors that I could modify to use as stand offs to raise the electronic flasher slightly above the fuse block. Note that the kei cars use a switched ground system. That'll require a new headlight harness with a relay to make LED headlights work properly. If your headlights have +12V supplied all the time when the key is in the ON position, even when the headlights are off, you'll need the relay wiring harness. If not, you may still need a non-relay wiring harness to correct the connector wiring to translate the different Japanese wiring, but I bet you'll need the relay harness. The headlights I listed are the 5X7 rectangular headlights. The round headlights are different. Note that the above part numbers and recommendations are specific to the 110P Hijet but is probably very close for all kei cars. If you want a quick cheap upgrade, the best bang for the buck is the brake lights. I did a calculation. The incandescent bulbs require 0.2 seconds to emit light as the filament must heat. LED bulbs are essentially instant. From memory, the difference is 12 feet of braking distance for the car behind you traveling 45 MPH. How many accidents would be avoided by 12 more feet of braking distance? If not avoided, another 12 feet of braking would substantially decrease the impact energy with corresponding decreases in vehicle damage and personal injury. The next best bang for the buck is tail lights and running lights as they're quick and easy. I also replaced the dome light inside and it wade a huge difference. I don't have the part number because it's a standard automotive internal LED bulb and I already had one. The switch was broken but I soldered it to fix it. You gotta have a dome light. Often, the plastic lenses are inexpensive in Japan. I was placing a Hijet parts order and had them include a $5 dome lens to replace the missing dome lens and it looks new. Even if not missing, they're inevitably dirty, yellowed and/or cracked. That's a cheap and easy restoration if already paying to ship parts from Japan.
