Gala season is now well and truely underway and to start with I attended the steam gala at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the first time I've been here in at least 11 years and they put on a fantastic show. Making it's first gala appearance in over 20 years is ex LMS Jubilee 4-6-0 no, 45596 Bahamas having recently returned to service from an overhaul and completing some mainline tours. Also returning to action after not featuring in a gala since 2000 was BR standard 2MT 2-6-0 no, 78022 which came out during the afternoon of my visit but definitely made a great appearance especially with Ivatt 2MT no, 46521 making it's first visit to the KWVR & very much in film star territory having starred in the TV sit com Oh Doctor Beaching and being on the railway where The Railway Children was filmed. Supporting these 3 were LMS Black 5 no, 45212 having a break from mainline tours and also distinctly facing Keighley compared to the usual for this line, 4F 0-6-0 no, 43924, Ivatt 2-6-2 tank no, 41241 in it's striking KWVR maroon livery & also visible at the start but not in action today is USA S160 no, 5820 Big Jim. All locos can be seen frequenting this short line running from Keighley to Oxenhope with scenes also taken at Ingrow, Damens & Oakworth
