Beautiful sounding kit. Modern drummer recently published a review and audio samples of Brooklyn series on their web pages, and to me, that is one of the most gorgeous drum recordings I've ever heard. I play a Sonor Designer series kit myself, but I always like to hear and see top of the line kits like the new Brooklyn series. Plus, Keith is one of my all time favorites. Thanks for uploading this vid. Cheers from Croatia!

Keiths tone and sound is so open, he should make a comparison video of all series that Gretsch offers because he brings out 100% sound of the drums. I wish I could do that. You could also hear it when he played Yamaha - he made the difference between maple and PHX shells so obvious... wow. Just WOW.

I have this exact kit. The kick drum can be heard on the moon. It fills a room completely. Thunder. The rest of kit sounds great, too. I've been playing Yamaha recording custom since 1983, and they are awesome, but there is nothing like the Gretsch sound. It's distinctive. You can always tell it's a Gretsch. This will be the last kit I will ever play.

It's soooo refreshing to hear a drummer lay down an awesome groove when showing off the drums in a video as opposed to the usual "look how fast I am" crap you usually hear on these types of videos. Kudos to Keith (I LOVE Steely Dan) and Gretsch drums on landing an artist of this caliber!

If I ever find a place to live with my drums set up without reservation again I will seriously consider the Brooklyn Broadcaster Gretsch or the Classic series. The size of the drums and type of drumheads mean the world to me. I am a lifelong drummer, and I know what I want almost 50 years old, and been at it seriously since early childhood. I have a limited edition Pearl Brazilian percussion conversion drumset now, but not really able to use it as much time. For me, Gretsch, even the Catalina Club Jazz series, stood out, over the years, as particularly memorable tone and what I felt as, more like my own instrument, more than anything else I ever had a chance to play, in or out of studios, bars, shows. The Broadcaster line I feel, in the right drum configuration, could be the Best I have yet to see as a drummer. 18" Bass 14" Floor 12" Tom Standard all I want. Best regards, Austin Emile Centolella

Hi - We are glad you were able to jam on a Brooklyn kit and enjoy it. Thanks for posting. Would you mind sending an email in to customerserviceatgretschdrumsdotcom about the tension rod issue on the snare? A picture or two would be great as well. We want to make sure this issue gets addressed immediately. Thanks again!

It depends on what sound you're looking for..Gretsch makes drums for all styles and have never disappointed in their long history..I don't play Gretsch, but i have tried out several series, and they all sounded different and great..Drum head choice, may also be a factor in one's personal quest for the sound they seek..but, if you're adamant about Grestch not being your cup of tea, may i suggest DW or Ludwig for a more Rock sound..You definitely won't be discouraged..

I think any issue addressed by a drummer about certain aspects of a drum is all personal preference , and not necessarily aimed toward the actual manufacturing of the drum itself....Diversity, and classic construction has always been the key with Gretsch, so even though your issue is a completely relevant one, i think it shouldn't raise any apprehensiveness..But it's the little things that make the difference, and once they've been pointed out, it benefits everyone ..

OK, I'll ask...I know its not really anyone's business, but I wonder why Keith left Yamaha. And, my second question is this: This is the second "A-lister" to leave Yamaha for Gretsch (even though Vinnie is with Ludwig now...and it's no secret that Vinnie was using Gretsch when he was with Yamaha). Anyone care to share?

I played a set of Gretsch Brooklyns yesterday during church service. First time I ever used a 24-inch kick. It doesn't take much for it to react in a huge way. That thing's a cannon! I did like how easy it was to tune the toms. However, there's issues with the snare drum. You can only do loose to medium low tuning. I think someone at the factory installed tension rods that are a bit too long. Hope my friend Scott Smith can get that fixed (BTW, thanks for letting play your kit).
