Your video was an amazing discovery for me! The Köln Concert was my favorite jazz piano piece when I heard it as a teenager. Your detailed analysis - and your wonderful personality - makes for a mesmerizing video. I would love to hear what that concert hall's announcement tone actually sounds like! I believe the pedal sounds were added because Jarrett was so frustrated with that piano, he forced the broken pedal to become part of the music.

You are a RARE case Henrik! I have NEVER seen a Classical pianist break things down harmonically/compositionally. It is more than rare to find a Classical pianist who knows and can explain these things. And you are paying respect to the Jazz (and Classical) master Keith Jarrett, amazing! I'm blessed to have found your channel, originally looking for Bach Invention analysis. God bless you!

It is an incredible work that is purely emotional and imorovized. I bought the LPs twice back then because I listened to it so often. I'm still discovering new things today. Keith Jarrett the god of improvisation. Thanks for the great video

Jarrett said in a latter interview that "the piano was only satisfying in the middle register" and that greatly influenced how he played.

I though perhaps the very first bit might be easy. But it's much harder then I expected. However, from just picking thru the very beginning, that finger pattern of two on, skip a note, then two on, moved around harmonically, - and that 9 chord stretch, one whole tone past the octave stretch... Both those things just altered my improv yesterday... For the better. Thanks for doing this. Gonna do my best to plug thru by ear and your tutorial. Cheers!

Glad you liked them! I haen't touched parts IIa or b, because they feel much more like free improvisation over repeated ostinatos, which is harder to adapt for an "interpretation" than Part I with its more restrained sections. But I'm still glancing at part IIc at times...

@@SonataSecrets which by the way seems not to be an improvised tune (I even remember hearing the theme on some of the bootleg recordings that circulate online). It's now known as "memories of tomorrow"

Hey, hello again. One question: When you say in min 12:47 that it is on phigyan mode, you are refering to E Phygian, didnt you? Cause i thought at the begining that you were refering to B phygian but it does not make so much sense... Thanks!
