Just found this video....so pleased as I will be renovating my father-in-law’s 5a (he is no longer with us). I think I’m missing a number of components but Stewart have been great when I contacted them. I also had a broken bearing cover? I’ve tried to v-file it and weld it but managed to buckle the metal. A new casting in on its was from Stewart which I will attempt to machine. This is all new to me...I have some wood work behind me but I’m really looking forward to this project...

A good start to what I have no doubt will be yet another superb series. I could watch your videos all day long and then some!

I have seen drawings of this engine type, had no idea it was so big. That makes it alot less complicated to make a working wooden verision :D

Thanks Keith, I always enjoy your videos and common sense approach both to engineering problems and your music. I am afraid that my venture into steam engines is limited to a Mammod toy traction engine at the moment... but if I can stop playing my A100 and flying my virtual Huey for a while, well, who knows... :)

That is a nice engine! That could run a little lathe! I would love me a steampowered lathe!

Are most of the nuts and bolts English or Metric sizes? Here in the USA, the most common size for smaller devices is the 1/4" one.

Nearly all B.A. sizes on this engine and some B.S.F. too . . .

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I can program a computer in Assembler and fly an airplane. No experience using a lathe!
