But this this was different. This was rage and it was freaking awesome. As someone who at the time this song actually came out was coming out of a narcissistic abusive relationship in which it ended only because he cheated on me. This song would blast on the radio for me and I would just scream it out. Kelly just did that only with a perfect voice.

And Kelly sang out of her own experience and found the perfect balance between putting the emotion that came from that hurtful place combining that with a powerful voice and perfect technique. Up to this song there is still something wring with the sound engineer i think but still kelly slayed!

I hope Kelly heals faster through her music instead of her music holding her prisoner in the “letting go” phase too long. Divorce is similar to death but divorce with children is harder because you don’t get to bury your partner. They have to be seen and dealt with weekend by weekend and lots of time “inbetweens” get to add up to periods that the songs keep reliving over and over. At first it can feel liberating but over time you have to be careful not to get stuck in emotional overload. Luckily she doesn’t have many of the same issues, but from the songs she chooses to record and perform she does. I would have thought she was done with “the victim”. Her recent weight loss and new set location for her daytime talk show puts her life in a success trajectory with plenty of new options. May her music be a blessing to herself as much as it remains for us!! ❤
