Kelly, those were all soup variants! The fried noodle variant is called Mie Goreng which are more easily available in North American Asian markets than the soup variants. They also have kecap manis in the packs.

Indomie that are soup based has more robust flavour in the soup. So throwing it out was a bit of a question for me, but it’s not fair to point out mistakes for a fun video like this 👌

If you want, you can mix it with egg or sausage when boiling the noodles and currently there are many flavors and brands besides Indomie, make sure to use the chili sauce to get the best taste.

Love how Dr. Nana was willing to try new things like the different hot sauces even though she doesn't like hot sauce. Relate to Forest liking the Milo drink out of all four haha! Excited for the new series coming up!

Kuah means gravy. The goreng ones just cook the noodles to soften it then drenched the water and place the noodles on a plate and put the seasoning and stir evenly. While the rest cook everything in the boiling water and serve (should be soupy)😊

Oh my God Kelly, the indomie you showed are all mie soup/not mie goreng (fried) so there should actually be some water/broth in it otherwise this is too salty/not tasty. In Indonesia we also eat the indomie with the sambal sauce. So nice to see you letting your mother learn about Indonesian food! I can't wait to see your mom go to Indonesia!

We called Sambal for the 'paste' one which is chilli and other spices mushed together, it still has the chilli texture. And Saus Sambal is the sauce one with very smooth texture, they usually just a bit spicy and kinda sweet. So the sambal you taste here is made with salted fish (other than the spices). It's good to have it with rice n egg! Another famous brand for saus sambal is Belibis, it's hotter and definitely taste different! And you should try another variety of sauce from Indofood called Pedas Manis and Sambal Bangkok. 😁 I hope anoyher time you can have Indonesian Chips such as fruits and veggies chips, my family usually buy it when they travel around Jawa.
