The Kelly Alexander Show is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Janet Jackson's phenomenal album the Velvet Rope by speaking to the people who were involved with the album and the world tour. We're beyond excited to welcome award-winning choreographer Tina Landon to the show. Tina has choreographed moves for top level artists like Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Mariah Carey as well as both Michael & Janet Jackson. Tina worked very closely with Janet on creating the Velvet Rope world tour and gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to get this phenomenal project off the ground. Thank you for watching!

I just love Tina, she made me want to be a dancer, Janet of course first I wanted to be a singer-dancer to be like her but then when I found out I couldn't sing and was too shy to do it I said "I'll be like Tina and dance." She's so awesome!

This is iconic. My first concert ever at 15 years old was the velvet rope tour, and it feel like it changed my life. That whole album helped mold who I am as a person. #iconic

Oh my Lord, I’m in heaven right now! I was born in 1973, my older sister in 1970. Our lives were glued to Michael Jackson & were delirious with joy watching the birth of MTV & amazing music videos. Then a minute later, Janet & “Control”. Heaven. We worshiped at the altar of Kenny Ortega, Paula Abdul & Miss Tina. It didn’t matter who was singing, we wanted to learn the dance! Thank you Tina for a lifetime of gettin down with my bad self... 🦋❤️

Wow, such a great interview. I honestly think Tina is the best choreographer and should be considered a legend. I used to go to a dance school called The Edge in Hollywood and I saw a routine she put together for the advanced students years ago. Like unbelievable. And honestly, Janet's song "You" is probably the best dance choreography I've ever seen. It's the most distinct and original moves that are unlike anything out there. Janet should just bust in on Justin Timberlake at the Superbowl, perform You and just slay everyone.

Thank you Kelly! This was everything! I will always wonder 'what if' in regards to Janet and her career if Tina was still in command like she was during janet. and Velvet Rope. It was amazing to see her sankofa tattoo (anyone else catch it?) It was so nice to hear Tina speak from a place of peace and happiness, but I can't help but to think of that double edge sword of Janet becoming so close with the dancers, and how that ultimately lead to the personal and professional divide between them. I STILL wish tina was in command. It's never been the same... Thank you (Kelly and Tina) for the memories.

Velvet Rope was my very first major tour I attended...I screamed so much, my throat was sore almost all of the next day...Lol Tina Landon was the best for Janet, in my opinion...Her choreography was definitely unique and the transition of music and choreography was the cleanest...Can't believe its been 20 years! 😊🙏❤

That Hollywood Bowl performance on October 8th 2017 was everything. I loved the reunion of all the dancers from the past, & they STILL got it! Grew up watching those dancers & studying them, especially Tina’s legendary work! Great interview Kelly

I grew up to Tina Landon OMG watching this was amazing!! I am a HUGE Janet fan (I was a fan of JJ before I even listened to MJ and I ended up being obsessed with BOTH). I remember watching MTV Making IF (Bill Bellamy had an all access pass with Ms Jackson) and Tina made it so cool!! I wanted to be a choreographer..I will always be a dancer but Miss Tina..I LOVE your cool crazy ass!!xo TY Kelly for this interview!

The kidz (O.G.💖) Really were celebs for us. MJ and JJ really ushered in the movement of knowing the behind the scenes...but not just starting with vr or remember the time. I mean I love Fatima (Aaliyah , backstreet boys ) Darren Henson(nsync) Leslie (big lez) but imo it really did start with mj n jj (for me)

Your questions are not only perfect... you never make the interview about you but rather your guests. I'm often annoyed by interviewers because most have a bad habit of doing the opposite.
