I have helped maintain this section of the trail for over 10 years. The real credit goes to a group of “Trail Hogs” that have been doing it for a lot longer. Shout out to Keith,Paul, John , Wallis, Marsha, Michelle and many others. Year round mowing, lopping, and tree removal keeps this section really clear and hikable. Congrats on your through hike, it’s been fun to watch. 7:30

Thank you for the VLOGs. I recently had the opportunity to do a section of the FNST on Eglin between Hwy 285 and Hwy 85. I loved every step of the 15.1 mile section. I was remembering the clips in your video as I walked the section. Thank you for all you do. You are an inspiration and a true Ambassador for the hiking community. I'm kinda heartbroken you didn't show silver creek. One of my favorites. I like walking in the creek sometimes. I'm glad you enjoyed Eglin our trail crew runs maintenance days every Tuesday. A lot of hard work goes on there. Your so close. Happy trails

Wow 1000 miles on the FT that's awesome. The spongy things all over the ground is Cladonia Lichen. It's actually edible and loaded with carbs. It's a fungus with algae in the inside so an Algie fungus lichen all in one. It also lives for centuries. Hay you could a used some for a pillow!

I used to live very close to there (in Valparaiso, FL). There are black bears that live on and around Eglin AFB. It would be really cool if you get to see one.

No ewww...Eastern King Snake, they eat other snakes...great guys to have around. Eglin is beautiful, hate that you have to keep checking for closures due to range use, but it is an active military base.

The last two or three days of your FT hike bring a different vibe. What happened to the big group? What happened to James? I'm so confused. Seems like you were having so much fun hiking with all your friends!

Everyone went different directions at the end due to personal deadlines, some got off trail to go elsewhere, work etc
