How accurate is the Kel Tec sub 2000? Well, I try my hand at 50 yards. Also threw in some chronograph work.

Your statement about halfway through the video was spot on "shows potential when I do my part". I wish more reviewers would admit this fact. I've been a firearms instructor, teaching top tier professional shooters, for many years. Most guns are more accurate than the person shooting it can ever be.

Wow, actually testing off a rest! Almost no KZfaqrs try to test a gun’s intrinsic accuracy. This is appreciated. 👍

That is 505 ft/lb of energy for the rifle, 274 ft/lb for the pistol. An 84% increase in kinetic energy.

Brother, you're a breath of fresh air. Actually taking multiple rounds of groups and measuring with a tape instead of your fist! All that ballistic data is right up my alley. I teach stats for a living and when you busted out with the mean and standard deviation, I knew I had found my kinfolk.

That is about exactly what I get out of mine... had a Gen1 and it didn't shoot as well, but the sights were Toys R Us grade on the Gen1 so who knows. I am pretty happy with the irons on this, but they do take a minute and a week for me to pick up (dunno if that is because I've become spoiled by RDS and Eotechs and such...) To ensure could pick it up faster, I drilled out the aperture a teeny bit. I hold the bottom semicircle to match the front sight bottom semicircle, and then put the post top at 6 o'clock. Then I get about 3-5 MOA, which is fine for this weapon. It will make hits out to a hundred, it's just that the post becomes a little thick at that point, so you're kinda guessing beyond that. Wih HP rounds, the best success I've had were with Barnes all copper (Tac-XP I think). Push em at +P and they make a pretty neat ruckus for a 9x19. Other than that, I just throw whatever cheap XTP rounds in there, and they don't expand all that much, but they do penetrate fairly deep and make a good mess. I like this little setup because I only ride motorcycles, so it's the bike version of a "truck gun" for me... when you can't pack a rifle, but it seems prudent to hedge your bets slightly over whatever pistol you're carrying. The mind goes a little wacky with the "what-ifs" and so forth... but if you're riding into the mountains and something occurs and you might be out there a while and have to feed yourself in between walking for a few years. 😆 Better to have and not need, and all that. Anyway... I write this of course, because I finally found something I can shoot almost as well as yourself. 🤣

I never gave the S2K much consideration either. With the way things are going all over the world I thought a good little backpack PCC might be good to have. Well, I finally was able to order one at regular price and recently picked it up. I have one major regret............. that I didn't buy 2. The S2K is reliable, surprisingly accurate, lightweight and it can use different magazines. I have the G19 version and once there is a mag loaded in it, the smaller grip is a non factor. I prefer the G19 version because it can take all the mags that the G17 version can, plus the smaller mags as well. For years I heard a lot of people raving about this carbine but thought it was a gimmick type of firearm, well I was wrong. It's a great little carbine and it has a very dedicated following with a large aftermarket for accessories, etc.. If you get a chance to buy one, do it as soon as you can.

@internetuser8371

@william dohn i have the 9mm version and so far i've only added a rubber bolt sleeve and a foregrip. The bolt sleeve is honestly the first addition anyone should make, and if you were to only add one thing, then the bolt sleeve would be it. The felt recoil is decent, videos don't really do justice to how much there truly is, but a recoil pad, which you'd have to drill holes for, is not needed. I've seen some guys use a muzzle brake, you can get one from a US based company called Mcarbo for around $62, they have more accessories for the sub2000 too, and a ton of youtube videos on how to install them. A red dot probably isn't necessary, i shoot my sub2k at 25, 50, and a few times at 100 yards with no issues, my groupings are very tight. Anything beyond 100 yards probably shouldn't be shot with the sub2k in my opinion. I'd say that a bolt sleeve and either a foregrip or vertical grip are needed, otherwise anything else would not improve the gun drastically. enjoy! lots of fun to shoot, no issues with jamming or ejecting at all, and lots of impressed looks from people at the range when you fold/ unfold it 👍

I bet if you popped a red dot on her where you did not have to push your cheek down so hard you could shoot 1 inch at 50 yards. The CCU is awesome but, heavy. That Vortex prism scope....love it. Thank you so much for sending it. I have a bunch of footage shooting but, opted just to tell about it. Not being the sniper that you are....I figure folks would rather watch me talk about it. I am in no hurry for you to send back the sub. Chris seemed somewhat unresponsive to send you the taller sight. That is his business though.👍🇺🇸

@@gunfunandstuff9226 - You're correct, the copper plated bullets I use are the Berry Hybrid and Speer Gold Dot. actually the gun being small and light hurts that kind of performance I don't believe in group size however, even the tightest group means nothing if the group isn't on the X, and mostly be concerned with what your first shot does, sometimes you only get one shot, so the first (and possibly only) shot is what really counts in the real world. Oh it's fun to shoot at the range, but lets not forget most guns have another more important purpose.

I can only speak as to the sub 2000 gen. 2 as it is the only Kel Tec product that I own, but it has been 100% reliable (no failures to extract/eject)

Must have not had your coffee that morning you shot those groups. i would have expected all of them to look like the one you did on camera at 50 yards.
