Thank you so much. This is the only video that clearly explains this. In the manual there are numbers programmed for banks and slots in performance mode if someone wants to have a Profiler remote or another midi controller as a back up.

Great video - cheers. While it's always a great opportunity to tap into a click track in this way, it would be hugely more organic and dynamic (from a band performance and audience viewpoint) to not have the band play to a click track. Unless the drummer is lousy at keeping time (you would have got rid of him if yes) I'd think the drummer would agree. Simply change your patches using a midi pedal board.

I use the same method with my Guitar Rig 5 and Logic, but I also have a backup Voodoo Ground Control in between so that midi goes through it from Logic to GR5. So Voodoo follows all patches (easy to check out that everything is in order on the fly) and if something happens I just kick the midi cable out of the GCP midi input. Sometimes GCP is in my rack so guitar tech can keep an eye on things too. Logic does all my preset switching, FX on/off -commands (which I have a LOT) and also all wah and whammy stuff. Very James Hetfieldish. :) Only downside is that it's hard to remember what to press anymore if I have to do it myself. :)

Hi Ken, Thanks for sharing the great tips for all the kemper users!! I have tried to the approach today, unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Apparently the Logic midi out doesn't reach to kemper. I hope that you can give me some more tips about this, Logic Track port : Ultralite mk3 Hybrid MIDI port Channel : 1 Program Value: 1 , 2 , 3 Kemper Midi Global Channel : 1 Midi Prgch# : 1 -> Clean 2 -> Crunch 3 -> Lead

Actually, my drummer is totally sick so i never have that problem! 1 time something happened with his headphones and he signaled my tech to stop the clicks. He stopped the clicks and i managed to get through the rest of the song on my rythem track. When it was time to start the next track there was no problems. If your drummer cant play to a click, I highly advise you to not do this! As far as a profile pack goes, I don't think i'll be releasing anything. sorry!!

Are you able to save this info in a backing track so it is always there when you call up the track? I use .mp4 videos with audio backing tracks. Could I have about 300 .mp4 files pre-configured and call them up as needed?

300 is little insane, but technically you could. In Reaper and Cubase (and probably other DAWs too) you can set up markers where you want each song to start. Then you can use a shortcut to access each marker (can be a computer keyboard, piano, media remote, etc). Personally I have all of our songs set up in individual folders (6 wav files and 1 MIDI file for the Kemper), and for each individual show, I drag the files into separate tracks based on the setlist for that show (so if we're playing 9 songs, I only import the files for those songs).

I don't get it. I've tried everything in this video a millions times with a Minisport and another USB to MIDI cable but to no avail. I'm following this setup to the 'T.'

Hi, can you also change performances in the same way?

Can you do this all inside the box instead of using outboard gear? Like, setup patch changing using the Archetype or JST products?

Yes. We've done it at rehearsals as a temporary thing until we got the Kempers. Just make sure your laptop can handle it, because you're processing the audio in real time, so you want the latency to be pretty low (the audience won't really be able to tell, but it could affect your playing if you always hear the notes late). Anything that doesn't need live processing should be bounced to a finished wav file (like if the synth is the same every time, don't use a MIDI track - bounce it to a wav file and put the wav file in your project, and turn off the VSTi).

So If you have a USB interface that's connected to your laptop that has midi in/out, then you don't need the M-Audio UNO sport. Is that correct? Unless of-course you're using the midi in/out of your interface for another midi device.
@B3Band
@B3Band Жыл бұрын
Correct. He is basically just using an audio interface that doesn't have audio jacks on it. If your interface has MIDI out, then you're good to go. It actually doesn't matter if you have two MIDI devices, because the Kemper has a MIDI thru port that repeats all MIDI signals to the next device. So you can set the Kemper to channel 14 and your other device to channel 6 (or whatever) and the Kemper will pass all the channel 6 messages to the next device.

Hey Ken, a couple of questions for how you use this live: Do you have all your songs for the set list in one Logic project? Who is in charge of starting and stopping the playback?
