AMAZING. What a force of nature Ken Campbell was. The world needs more people who are truly, freely themselves.

I was there. Several times I took the train up to the ICA to see episodes of this peculiar play. It was remarkable stuff, and yet I sort of took it all for granted. It was the 1970s and there was always weird and innovative events going on somewhere. I still have the advert flyer. Thanks very much for posting this.

Yes Harry, those days performers got into wild things simply because that's where their minds and spirits were. These days most innovation is forced, false and gimmicky.

Saw bits of this being performed in the 90s in a tunnel near London Bridge Station where I kept wandering between the play and the banging acid techno rave taking place in the adjacent tunnel.

When were you in the Warp? My son was in the original ICA version as well as The Warp in Liverpool. He played Phil's son. My son was born in December 1971. And yes, that was Jim Broadbent. I am the clown with the North American accent at the beginning describing how we got involved. I played many small characters throughout. We also did the Ullises movie in Germany with many of the performers from the Warp. We left Great Britain in 1981 and have lived since in Vancouver, British Columbia.

i can be seen v dimly about 1:38 on the band stage, w glasses, and i would be on the piano at the jazz club, w Chris De Pyss on sax and our guitarist (don't remember name) on washtub bass

I find it difficult to believe that only sixteen people have commented on this. I think that there many silent commentators who are happy to not manifest their thoughts in any way. I am certain that the unvoiced and unwritten views are largely benign, benevolent even. Perhaps, for the sake of some sort of celestial balance, there ought to be at least one vaguely antagonistic comment.
