1972, Jerusalem, Khan Theatre. I was on a youth summer program in Israel, and our group counselors took us to see the Roadshow. I LOVED it. They asked for volunteers from the audience, "two strong young men with a sadistic sense of humor." My buddy and I waved our hands and went on stage to assist Mr. McCoy in his highly risky and dangerous (ha!) Indian Robe Trick as seen at 33:12. I now derive endless pleasure telling Whovians about how I tried to strangle the 7th Doctor. :) Thank you for posting this!

Ken Campbell really was a one off. He had a real thirst for knowledge and a curiosity about what went on around him. Not only that but my goodness, you name it, he had a role in it on film and TV.

Sylveste(r) McCoy was very pretty. I'm not sure about the ferret-down-the-trousers bit; it looked a little cruel.

I just saw him at Chicago TARDIS this weekend. In his panel, he said that the "ferret" thing was largely an illusion. He wore a pair of very baggy pants with a hidden pocket inside; the ferret remained inside this hidden pocket.

Great watch. A slice of English life in the early 1970s. Can anyone put names to the guy at 40:30 and the woman in the troupe & the taller one wrestling with Sylvester McCoy?

I don't know who the guy at 40:30 is, but woman of the troupe was Susan Littler and the tall chap was Marcel Steiner. Sadly, along with Ken, neither of them are with us anymore.

Sadly no. These films were taken from archive vhs viewing copies a long while ago. Be great to get hold of the negative if it still exists. The BBC hold this print.
