From a Vegan Diet to a Carnivore Diet and all the Benefits it brings...
Isabella Ma discusses her journey with Dr Berry from a Vegan diet to the Carnivore diet.
Many questions answered, and no vegans bashed. Excellent video for helping a young person understand why the “logic” for a vegan diet is flawed, and why a Proper Human Diet includes lots of Fatty Meat, Eggs, Butter and Seafood.

I was vegetarian, raw vegan and vegan for over 30 years. I am a type 1 diabetic and I wanted to do the healthiest diet for my body. I got on the insulin pump 20 years ago and since then gained over 100 lbs. I was eating about 45 carbs per meal, so relatively low-ish carb. Even so, I have developed multiple autoimmune issues including Rheumatoid arthritis, Gastroparesis, IBS, chariot foot, neuropathy all over my body and more. I begged every doctor to help me. Was given the advice exercise more, eat less. Still I gained weight dispite my diligence. Finally 7 months ago I forced myself to do keto. It was very hard to eat that first bite of meat. I felt so sad...ethically. I only did it because I literally felt like I was going to die soon if I didnt do something. First 4 months I lost zero lbs. Then over the next 3 I've lost 35lbs and I'm not trying carnivore. I feel a million times better. A1c went from 8.0 which was a huge struggle to maintain to 5.4. Cholesterol is much improved and I am taking 1/2 the insulin I once was.

I'm so sorry for your health issues. Most doctors have barely any nutrition education themselves and are usually the worst sources of advice in that area. Many vegans do not understand what is a balanced whole-food plant based diet which should include some crucial supplementation (vegan EPA/DHA, vitamin b-12 and vitamin D (if you don't get enough sun exposure). Eating the mock meats, vegan processed foods and any type of oil (all oils are inflammatory) will cause health problems. I reversed my rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis by eliminating all oil from my diet and cooking more beans, soups, rice and quinoa dishes - making tubers a staple in my diet, at least one large colorful raw salad with nuts and seeds every day....The best information on nutrition I got from Cornell University Plant-based nutrition studies. I urge you to apply for a full-scholarship from the Food for Health Foundation which covers the full cost of the online course. You will learn how unhealthy all animal products are to the human body and it will help you get back to living in your morality as you eat a vibrant, balanced diet intended for humans. Also check out Dr. Milton Mills - he has some great videos and does go into detail about the differences between herbivores, omnivores and carnivores and what happens to humans when we eat meat and dairy. I wish you the best in you quest for health and happiness.

Thank you for all of your videos. I became a vegan at 71 after watching "Forks Over Knives" to lose weight and just become healthier. After about 3 months I even quit smoking. Fast forward to 74 I had gained weight, my glucose and LDL went up, HDL down and triglycerides soared.I told my doctor it was like looking at someone else's labs. He knew I was vegan but offered no advice. After watching a few of your videos I went low carb, Kito. It's a mind transition as well as physical one. I truly appreciate you and Neisha for sharing your knowledge. My doctor insists I lose 10 lbs by Jan or go on statins to which I'm adverse. I've been transitioning 2 wks and have lost 5 -6 lbs. I'm learning every day and will even try chicken liver today. My long term plan is to eventually go carnivore. Thanks again.

I went vegan four times in my life, the first time at 13. It wasn’t so much a moral decision as a way to better my health. However I was never able to sustain it for more than a year at a time before I started to feel unwell with profound lack of energy, also I was hungry all the time and craved carbs. I then became a became a vegetarian and included eggs and sometimes fish. I ended up with type 2 diabetes was advised by my doctor to eat 45 carbs at each meal and 15 - 20 twice a day for snacks.i ended up on insulin the last four years. Up until 3 1/2 months ago I hadn’t eaten red meat in 26 years because I thought red meat and fat especially animal fat was unhealthy. Boy was I wrong. I’m 64 and since going keto I have finally found the proper human diet and regained my energy and vitality like I haven’t felt in the past 26 years. Like Isabella said, you have to let go of your stubbornness and open yours mind and that’s just what I did. Now I’m reaping the benefits and building optimal health. I’m reversing type two diabetes that has plagued me for 22+ years. I’m off all insulin now, I’m no longer using a cane and walk for 45 minutes most days of the week. I’ve dropped the dose of the antidepressant I’ve been on for 26 years by 2/3 and dropped 30 lbs. Another words it’s given me a whole new lease on life. Thank you Dr Berry for your guidance and knowledge, I so very much appreciate you. ❤️🥰❤️

Vegans have a tendency to become defensive and irrational. Malnutrition may play a part, but I think it's also because veganism is more of a moral/ethical ideology than a diet for health. They try to claim its healthy to recruit more followers.

Me too! I was a very strict Whole Food Plant Based No Oil girl for 3.5 years. I've been a nutrition/fitness junky since my early 20's as just a side note. Not a professional by any means but very well informed in the latest information. My WFPBNO journey started out great but like S & B girl, it gradually decreased. I never felt satiated. I ate and ate and ate and ate even when I wasn't hungry. Likely, I had an addiction to the carbs. 20lbs of weight gain later I switched to Keto on June 13, 2021 and the first 4-5 weeks were pure hell coming off the carbs since, I feel, that i had so many carbs for so long. It took a good 8 weeks till my body adjusted. I'm now 10 weeks in and more Ketovore/Carnivore and I feel amazing and feel even better when I stay more Carnivore. (I bounce into Ketovore when I eat out, which is only 1 meal/week. Sometimes a good cobb salad draws less attention then a plate full of chicken breasts or burgers.) During my WFPBNO journey my skin was so horribly dry. My fingernails were paper thin. I was constantly hungry, always bloated, and suffered with off and on sinus congestion. I went through menopause during this process and the symptoms got worse. I took a deep dive into nutrition once again after that because my energy levels were plummeting also. I couldn't go a day without a mid day nap. SO UNLIKE ME! Listening to Isabella talk today could be words coming from my own. I'm glad we both found the right nutritional path.

I’m 73 but never stopped singing, although it is pretty local. Struggling with weakness after a horrible experience with semaglutide, I needed more energy to sing the demanding Bach arias I was working on. I recalled that the only time in my life that I ever had energy, was when we were going to a doctor who insisted his patients follow a low-carb diet (similar to Atkins but no pork or sweet potatoes). He insisted we must get 75 grams of protein per day, which seemed impossible. “What am I supposed to have for breakfast?” I cried. “Lamb chops” was the surprising reply! We followed his diet, more or less, but then he retired, and I was left with huge carb cravings and an aversion to meat! Eventually, after years of indulging in the sweet foods I wound up prediabetic on and off, although I would cut back for a while and the next set of blood numbers would be better. Seems I have been flirting with diabetes for years and never realizing the seriousness. After getting off semaglutide, I just wanted to feel normal again, so I went on a summer-long binge of eating in restaurants, having maybe 3-4 oz of a tenderloin but always having mashed potatoes and a chocolate dessert a la mode. I spent a lot of time having lunch in Mexican restaurants, where (since they did not carry bottled still water), I washed down my meals with a beer (could never finish) or sangria. That September I had the worst blood draw results ever- prediabetes (again), all numbers went up, and, for the first time, fatty liver. Really scary and sobering. I had heard of carnivore only recently (sounded crazy) from Jordan Peterson, and somehow after watching a few videos, I decided this was the remedy for the blood sugar and liver issues. In mid-October I started. Modified to include the raw dairy I had gained a source for in 2008, and minimal fruit (largely I serving prunes/day). I immediately lost the four extra pounds I had picked up after semaglutide, although after that, weight loss stalled and even went the other way a bit. It’s not really hard to avoid the pastry-I don’t stop at Starbucks anymore for banana nut bread or chocolate croissants. I have probably had enough sweets to last a lifetime, although our anti-aging doctor allows 1 oz “medicinal chocolate” per day (85% cacao-not much sugar). Can’t say I miss salads or veg, although I figure if I want to make Southern greens every so often, with ham fat/bone and some bacon, I’ll just say I’m keto for a day. I’m a born and raised Illinoisan, but our neighbor, Lorraine, introduced me to turnip tops with turnip bottoms, and that’s great stuff. I’d never have it often enough for it to be a problem. I never ate enough oxalates for them to be problematic. I wish the fat loss would take off again, but I figure after being meat-deficient for a decade or more, I’ve got a hollow leg to fill up, nutrient-wise. And I now have enough energy to sing Bach’s “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen”, and other demanding repertoire. A famous conductor commented, “Most Sopranos sound like they’ve been living on seaweed,” contrasting Beverly Sills favorably (she was a steak aficionado). Guess I’ve proven that for myself.

I was a vegan alcoholic for 4 years. I lost weight, sure, but only thanks to severe calorie restriction. My hair fell out in clumps. I was freezing all the time (I would wear a cardigan outside in the summer!) I would feel faint during working out. My diet isn't where I want it to be, but once I began cutting processed foods and starting reintroducing animal products into my diet I instantly felt better.

I was always anemic as a kid. We were very poor and the spring- summer-fall I was 4 we ate mostly poke greens off the side of the road-Then I was very picky and mom gave me nothing much but Campbells chicken noodle soup for a couple years for lunch. I was hungry a LOT. I got pretty sick and even tho we couldnt afford a dr-mom took me in anyway. He said I was malnourished and wanted to hospitalize me to get my strength back. Mom burst into tears and he allowed her to promise to buy me vitamins and she would force me to eat other foods. Somehow this became my fault for being picky (?) But she only got one bottle of vitamins and my brother ate most of them like candy. But the foods I didn’t like were forced on me-I had liver every week at least 1-3 times. I really didnt like it. Many years/decades later I was obese and sick with probable congestive heart disease when in desperation I tried juicing -got even sicker-tried Keto-struggled with mental cravings still and was craving steak so much! Went out and got a giant steak-felt amazing-better than in years-and the next day heard about carnivore. now am 95 lbs down-still alive(!!!) healthier by far! Neuropathy for lufe is still with me and autoimmune issues but slightly improved...But here is the deal-all the foods I disliked and was “picky” about-are the vegetables and fruits that trigger me THE MOST! So now I listen to my body...and even tho mentally I still think liver should be good for me-it is still repulsive af...so...I am NOT eating it. I can get beyond the repulsive thing but I simply do not think I personally am supposed to eat it. (My lifelong anemia went away on carnivore anyway) Thanks to Dr. Berry for saving my life! I feel 15-18 years younger now than I did! I am still healing and still have a long way to go. Maintaining thru coronavirus stress is as good as I can do right now. Stress has screwed up my hormones. Yes-fear is a real thing! Hopefully life will get better.

When i started eating other proteins and MEAT, i felt so much better and my hair is starting to grow back thicker. My mental health is such a priority in the way i live my life, would not want to change it. I eat meat everyday( found a farmer who grass feeds and grass finished their cows) rare here in Quebec, Canada !💯🙏😌🐮🐃🐄

Just now watching this because I decided to quit ALL my medication for my TBI/MS with the exception of certain injections every 3 months. I have lost almost 40 (39.6) pounds of fat and gained 17 pounds of muscle in exactly 40 days today. I fast for 72 hours (on Friday-Sunday) every week and eat nothing but clean meat/seafood/eggs provided by Butcher Box every month. I use a set of 25lbs dumbbells and one 50lbs dumbbell for strength training and weight gain, I alternate upper and lower body with each exercise on a timer every hour on the hour 7 days of the week. It’s a lot, I know BUT…on my latest MRI on Friday my neurologists just laughed at me, they couldn’t believe the progress I’ve done in such a short period of time. I used to take 22 prescriptions at least 3 times per day from the VA, some of them classed as a paint thinner in 17 first world countries - not even joking. I went from barely able to get out of bed and use the restroom to working out all day every day…I now have a body >90% of 20 year old males DREAM about having…at age 45…just saying guys, try it…do it for a week and let me know if you don’t feel like a freaking operator!!!

Freelee the banana girl had me duped too! I was vegan for three months, I did lose weight, but the cravings for fat never went away, and the weight loss did come to a screeching halt. I started incorporating grass fed beef and the best eggs I could find as I made my way through the rest of my veggies I had in the fridge. I have also been OMAD intermittent fasting since the start of my vegan journey. I have veered off and had a snack or ate dinner with a friend maybe 5 times in the last 6 months, but other than that my weight loss picked back up again, I am steadily dropping pounds after hovering around 250 my entire adult life, I am down to 215 last time I stepped on a scale. I used to abhor the thought of any kind of exercise but now I am looking for excuses to go outside with all of this newfound energy. I have learned a lot from you Doc! I look forward to the day I hit my goal weight, and knowing I get to eat delicious meat to help get me there is like some kind of miracle hahaha.

Great interview! So happy for her! Health and appearance are important in professional musical performance. I'm a singer. Years ago, I saw an obese female opera singer perform the role of princess Aida, in the Verdi opera. She looked inappropriate in the role, and it was difficult to watch her struggle through the performance. Sad!

Dr Berry, please do a podcast on the necessity and health benefits of menstruation, and also please clarify that it doesn't have to be a painful experience if one has good nutrition.

Love the idea about being open minded to rediscover the ideal human diet, whether with veges or not. Great discussion! Going to give Carnivore a go. Thanks for the video

I think it's really interesting once you become informed on nutrition that eventually you realize the true "super food" is actually beef with high amounts of saturated fat. It's probably mind bending for most to even consider that to be possible, but it's simply true. The story about where the sizzler steak came from and what it did is a really useful and interesting.

I was vegan for 6 years myself! And I felt fantastic, I stopped having migraines, my pms got so much better, seasonal allergies went away. I thought that I would be eating like that for the rest of my life. I was eating very healthy, zero processed foods, a ton of great supplements, I was fit, full of energy. All of that changed once I got pregnant. I could not down all of those greens, I started craving animal products constantly, I could not find anything to tricky body. I gained a good amount of weight during pregnancy even though I did not eat much more than before. I started to eat cheese and sardines at the end of it bc I could not fight the urge to eat animal products any longer but I could not bring myself to eat meat. I tried to go back to eating plant based after I gave birth but I literally could not, I would start gagging after one gulp of my beloved green smoothies. It broke my heart honestly, I did not want to harm animals, that was so important to me but my body was breaking down. I had postpartum depression, my weight did not go down, I had a lot of troubles. Now I don't know how to heal myself, I am in better shape than before but far from feeling great. I stumbled across keto and carnivore but my Dr told me that they both terrible for women's health and hormones. And yet I see so many testimonials about people being healed. And so many ex vegans that started having problems on plant based and went all the way across to animal based. And it makes me feel less guilty to consider trying animal based putting myself first

This has been my journey too! I was so brainwashed by the vegan agenda. As a whole food only vegan for most of my adult life, I had cancer four times.

Glad you came to your senses ditched the vegan vegetarian diets and adopted the only true evolutionary correct human diet, the animal foods based diet. Proven by isotope testing of ancient human remains.

My skin was prone to breakouts for the first 45 years of life (M). I used (outrageously expensive) Chanel moisturizer and eye cream as it was the only thing that would keep my skin clear. Body = cetaphil lotion Now, I have a container of Kirkland coconut oil in the bathroom and apply it to my entire body, including the Face and head. My skin has never ever been this healthy! Oh, and I only need to put some on every few days. And I swim in a chlorinated pool everyday!!!! (Clean Keto + 20:4 IF)

I was vegan/vegetarian for 20 years, starting when I was in my teens. I ate the macrobiotic diet for many years and raised my daughter on it. I remember my first bite of red meat after all those years, on the advice of an Ayurvedic doctor. I immediately felt like my awareness came into my body rather than that floating dispersed feeling I was used to. It was dramatic so I know what red meat does for me. Luckily my daughter decided she was not a vegetarian at a very young age and ate meat whenever she could - at her dad's family dinners or at a friends house. I know many people in the Ayurvedic community eating a diet that is not serving them or their clients because they have not read the original texts. I'm now doing the carnivore diet and am very curious to see if I can get rid of some post menopause/covid weight and the bloating I've been experiencing on keto.

Great interview. SBG Isabella is lots of fun to watch. She looks amazingly healthy and happy. I think I’m going to go the desiccated route to get in my liver. For me it’s a texture thing more than a flavor problem.

No can do on the carnivore. Me likey asparagus too much. I try to eat like my great grandparents did: meat, veggies, healthy fats. Fruit sparingly.

Great interview @Dr.Berry . Perhaps l am a different ex vegan as l had a very different journey ( not full carnivore ) l was vegan for 20+ years and l wasn't deficient or ill, nor did l put on weight. I was everything from vegan, raw foodie, no processed, nor did l eat nuts or seeds or vegetable oils . Solved excess estrogen and lumps in my breasts. Yet l aways listen to what my body is asking for and stay open so listened when in my 50s my body wanted eggs now l eat lots. Plus some meat and dairy. My mental health and skin was good vegan, it was not a negative on my mind. However, many in the vegan community are cult like and would be disgusted that l eat eggs and meat. I don't feel guilty and l am more than happy handling meat.
