Jay-Z apologised for Super Ugly a day after it came out on Hot 97. Gucci said he felt bad for playing The Truth in his Verzuz with Jeezy. Dr Dre said he felt bad for dissing Eazy E on Dre Day. So Cole is not the first rapper to retract a diss. IMO people are upset because they beleived he'd engage in lyrical warfare but are disapointed because he's not about it. I'm with Chuckie here, I don't understand why he downplays his skillset or looks up to Dot and Drake so much. I'd argue that he's the only one who's been pushing this big 3 out of all of them. To call him a b**** is a bit far, he's still one of the best rappers of his generation and we'll just have to accept that he's not willing to engage in beefs. And that's okay. You just can't take the boasty lyrics about ending MCs seriously 😔

Can't be 1-0 to anyone until Kendrick responds with his own track then it'll be round one complete, 'like that' was the intro track to the beef, it doesn't count or you'd have to start counting other tracks with indirects and that have features like 'control' 😂 it doesn't count if it's track that can easily be ignored or replied through indirects, cause Drake and Cole could've ignored it but Kendrick can't ignore Drake's reply, the only other person you can start counting first round complete on would be Rick Ross cause he responded 😂

On Mimi’s sibling reference. I would swap Drake and Kendrick then it would be perfect: Drake is youngest child as he’s petty and gets away with dropping tiktok type songs that are cringy like “in my feelings” “nice for what” etc. Kendrick has to be oldest son as he’s conscious and constantly has to prove himself to gain respect. He is held to a HIGHER standard as all older children are. (if Kendrick oldest child released TikTok songs he would get laughed at by peers/industry but youngest child Drake gets away with it)
@MR12AMAZING3 ай бұрын
Why are you acting as if Kendrick doesn't always drop cringy tiktok type songs too. What do you call songs like Humble, LOVE, GOD, Silent Hill or half of his latest album where he's doing these weird ass melody's and awful singing. If anything Kendrick gets away with a lot. Everyone calls Drake corny and a pop artist but Kendrick doesn't get the same energy. If Drake made a song like Silent Hill everyone would be clowning him like they always do and say he's too old to be making music like that but when it's Kendrick no one says anything.

I forget what that girl’s name is. But her eldest, middle and youngest child analogy is the coldest explanation I’ve ever heard for a comparison of the 3 rappers. She’s so right about all of it. Drake is the eldest child with all the expectations, and held to more unrealistic expectations. Kendrick is the youngest that kinda gets everything easy - everybody loves him. And Drake is jealous of Kendrick for that. But Kendrick is also jealous of Drake because he’s the oldest child that is ultimately the man of the house amongst the children - and that’s the spot Kendrick wants. Hence the tension and fighting.
@shainissa82373 ай бұрын
I hear Mitch’s point about wordplay and the king line, but it only works if you can’t flip it again. Kendrick can easily flip those lines again. It’s a fire track, but the lines he said are smart and witty, but they can be easily flipped again

Craig Mitch will go on about being a music guy and really into this hip hop thing, and talks like he's got lots of great insight but his analysis is surface level and goes off stuff anyone can look up on rap genius or youtube. On one hand he'll talk about people moving like stans and not really listening to the music but then go on and display outrageous stan behaviour himself. Every argument he makes about another rapper that is somewhat objectively constructed, he'll go on and contradict to give Drake a pass. Last episode he was going on about how Drake is number 1 in the world, the best rapper, but now he's not a rapper he's a rap artist? The internet supposedly doesn't like Drake but somehow everything he does is trending, he has armies of stan defending his every move, pushing his album sales, and ignoring every slight or missteps he's made in his career. He can't be both the top dog and the underdog at the same time, that's not how it works. Like the narrative he's trying to spin about this being 20v1 like the whole industry is just jealous of him and hating, as if he wasn't the one who's been moving snaky for years and is just now dealing with the repercussions of his actions. He's a great entertainer, he makes fun music, he can be your favourite artist, he's a whole lot of people's favourite artists, but can we at least not pretend that he's something he's not. He's already plenty good at doing that on his own. When Poet has a more balanced and level headed take about something than you, that's saying a lot.

@fzr17933 ай бұрын
The biggest counterpoint to that is that Kanye has always been public and vocal about his projects as collaborative efforts where he has a vision and will bring onboard anyone who can help him execute it whether that's a bar, a particular sound, a drum kit. Second, all of Kanye's writers are known and credited, Rhymefest, Consequence, etc. And lastly Kanye himself addressed it pretty early on in his career, the line on Diamonds from Sierra Leone "do he write his own rhymes? Well sort of, I think em, that means I forgot better shit than you ever thought of"

I am really getting bored of this ghostwriter talk its ridiculous, in these reference tracks, they are all melodic songs, and Drake changes like 80 percent of the bars in the reference tracks so it really doesnt matter, Nas and Big Sean did the same thing as Drake with the same writer "Quentin Miller", but no one ever criticises Nas or Big Sean, everyone saying Drake cant be in a all time list, if you are going by that same argument than Nas or Big Sean cant either, same with Ice Cube, del tha funkee homosapien wrote for Ice Cube, my thing is be objective, either use the same argument for all these rappers i mentioned, or acknowledge that all of these rappers I mentioned write their own raps, which I believe they all write their own
