GKMC is 1000x better than Macklemore’s shit. However Macklemore sold more albums independently and had 2 of the biggest singles of that year so you honestly shouldn’t be surprised. Grammies is all about politics, not musical quality

At the ending skit of Compton where Kendrick is using his mom's van & says he'll back in 15 minutes, I partially took it as he could've subliminally been saying he's on his way to go get his 15 minutes of fame then he's coming back home. Maybe that's too idealistic & I'm just buggin'.

+ZDub Tha Gawd This album isn't sonically better you just find it more interesting because its more new age. This is the kind of music teens can get behind but TPAB is a far better project where as this one has hit and misses. It's not subjective to say TPAB is better because it is. It has a more complex and original message than a guy living in the hood. Most people prefer this simply because of the bangers which is shallow but what can ya do.

+ZDub Tha Gawd I don't even know if I'd say GKMC sounds "better", it's just more accessible and "trendy" than TPAB is sonically. I think TPAB is more sonically developed actually, but I guess it is subjective.

And the thing with Kendrick, he can honestly do it all. It's not just dope rhyme schemes and great story telling over certain productions styles, his projects have bangers filled with quoteables as well as laid back tracks to mix in with the story and narration, real life talk from mixed with comments on society as a whole, and it all fits. I honestly can't name that many rappers who are so great whilst being very versatile. If Kendrick keeps doing this, he might be mentioned among the greats.

Man I love your channel man, defnitely subbed now. I saw couple of reviews and you guys have a very clear way of explaining your opinions and you guys are hilarious too, everyone has a clean way of saying their mind. GOOD KID MAAD CITY was the most cinematic hip hop album, and probably the best of that year :)

I love this youtube channel. You guys keep it real. I grew up in Compton and all Kendrick references are accurate and vivid. I'm a rapper but being from Compton people didn't like that I was concious in my songs. I'm so fucking proud of what he's doing for the city. I never got a chance to meet him in person but, I know dozens that do and told me about him years ago.

Personally I love this album...I like the concept behind it, how it was put together and the way the story is told. Its been on repeat for over a week and will continue to be on repeat. I was waiting for 2 albums this year On the House and Good kid mAAd city, and gkmc definitely delivered

I just got this on vinyl not too long ago and something about a record player adds a lot more to this project. like the intro even starts off sounding like a needle drop on a record.

I was looking forward to this, great insight. I agree with Feefo that like Eminem, Kendrick has the ability to make his flow transcend the beat. He's great at playing characters and telling a story, which is something I love listening to in hip hop.

One more suggestion. Maybe yall could do a track by track breakdown on reviews, kinda wanted to hear more about what you guys thought about specific tracks like Sing About Me. That might take too long tho idk. But great work, this is definitely my favorite channel on KZfaq.

I mean the fact that there would be 13 songs on an album from an artist you like but wouldn't even listen to the bonus tracks on the chance you might like them or even because it's your favorite artist, just like beezy saying he didn't care, he wanted the short film, that's what I mean about missing out on a lot of good music
