Order Charlamagne's new book, "Get Honest or Die Lying":
a.co/d/0hmAZLzm
The Brilliant Idiots is a comedy podcast from the Loud Speakers Network featuring Charlamagne tha God, host of Power 105.1’s radio show, The Breakfast Club and a New York Times bestseller author with “Black Privilege”, “Shook One” and now “Get Honest or Die Lying”. Charlamagne tha God is a recurring host on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central.
Andrew Schulz is a world touring stand up comedian known for his comedy specials “Infamous”, “Schulz Saves America”, “Views from the Cis” & “4:4:1” as well as appearing in films “You People”, “White Men Can’t Jump”, “The Underdogs” and “Upgraded”.
The Brilliant Idiots is a podcast just as unpredictable as its hosts. From music, comedy, relationships, to pop culture, politics and current events, everything is on the table for analysis. But take what you hear with a grain of salt, because while their perspectives are often brilliant, they're liable to be idiotic too.

There is a reason Kendrick Lamar is the first and only rapper who won a Pulitzer Prize. He doesn’t need this beef with Drake to stay relevant. Even when Kendrick goes MIA for long periods, he will still have millions of fans waiting to buy or stream his album whenever he gets ready to release.

Kendrick legit stayed low for about 4 years (let's not erase the Black Panther album and his collabs with Baby Keem), but as soon as he announces he's putting an album out, everyone else gets the fuck out the way. The day Kendrick releases an album is like a holiday. That's the only thing people care for. They stop what they're doing and listen. Kendrick doesn't even need to do social media, and he doesn't. People who think that makes him "irrelevant" are dumb for that take.

I'm not deep into any sort of rap culture. *But I can actually answer this question for anyone curious why Mr. Lamar is such a machine on stage. So read on if you want to understand, or want to be like Kendrick yourself!* 8:40 "Kendrick's not a real person... On stage for two hours without a sip of water, etc..." So if you listened to his last record Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, you may have noticed samples of an older German man talking about spirital ideas. This is featured throughout the record on a handful of tracks. The man's name is Eckhart Tolle. Who is most well known for his book "The Power of Now". It is abundantly clear to me, as a person who has followed Mr. Tolle for a long time, that Kendrick has become deeply entrenched in the practice of "presence". You might have heard that term used in a cringe sort of way. Saying that someone is very "present." When they have a lot of crystals and dream catchers hanging behind them. But that is mostly a performative representation of "spiritual people". The reality is, all religions and ancient spiritual practices have been teaching the same thing since the beginning. Eckhart just distilled this down to it's essence. The truth about becoming present is the most powerful at it's most basic form. You don't need to be a monk for 30 years with a shaved head in Nepal to be able to understand it. It's incredibly simple. We live in our heads. We are trapped by our thoughts. We give our energy to thoughts and emotions we did not choose. Our mind is a reflexive operator. It reacts to everything. And we don't know how to live any differently. The reason those folks shave their head and move to Nepal, is to focus on meditation. The practice of emptying the mind. Becoming one with the present moment. Or "the now". Seeking "enlightenment." A state of interrupted presence. Which basically means you are 100% in control of your mind. Which means it never controls you Eckhart Tolle teaches a speedrun version of that quest for enlightenment. And I believe Kendrick Lamar did just that. And what would that mean for him? When you are totally present, you aren't nervous. Or anxious. Or excited. You just are. Most people sweat because their mind cannot help but imagine the consequences of failure. Or it wants something so badly, that it focuses on that desire more than what is right in front of them. This is a terrible amount of wasted energy for every human being. When someone becomes present, tapping into ONLY what is happening right in the very instant it is happening... All that stress, pressure, desire, fear, obsession... it all goes away. And there's nothing to sweat about. The other big aspect of what Eckhart teaches people is about the ego. He uses this word only to mean "the mind's identity." And the identification with thought, that every human being suffers from. I say "suffer" because this is THE single greatest source of mankind's suffering. Which is not the same as pain. Pain is a feeling. "Ouch!" You feel it. Suffering is the inner resistance to what is. To reality. So, for example, your girlfriend breaks up with you... You feel pain. Emotional pain. But pain none the less. But a month later, you still feel the sting of that pain. Why? Because (A) your mind reMINDs you of that painful moment. And (B) you resist the reality that it happened. Accepting reality for what it is, is a very powerful tool for inner peace. But what is so painful about your girlfriend breaking up with you? And why is it even MORE painful to see her with another man. Even years later! The ego. The mind has a voice. And it uses that voice to tell you who you are. And demands that you protect that identity. But it is, actually, a lie. You are not your girlfriend. You are not your house. Your car. Your bank account balance. Your clothes. Your muscles. Your retweets. Your followers. Your brand. Your respect. Your influence. Kendrick's lyrics from that album say exactly that. The fear we have of losing what our mind define "our self" as, is a lie that we can only see when we become deeply rooted in the present moment. And it's very simple to do. But takes quite a lot of practice to maintain and strengthen within you. Like building any other muscle. Out down your phone. Sit up. And look around. Don't move. Just be comfortable and still. And look at what's in front of you. Everything in your view. Pay as much attention to it as possible. Every detail. Not on any one thing. But on EVERYTHING you see in your view. At the same time, pay attention to the sounds you hear. Pay attention to what you smell. The longer you do this, the more you will begin to observe. That is because our minds are designed to focus our attention on things that matter to us. The color and shape of a wall usually doesn't matter to us. The sound of air doesn't usually matter. While you are doing this, pay attention to what your body feels. Your skin. Is it hot or cold or irritated in some way? And your inner body as well. How do your hands and feet feel? What you'll notice as you do this, is the habit your mind has of interrupting you. This is why people go to meditation classes and temples. To try and surround themselves with the easiest and most supportive environment to be able to do this practice. And that's all meditation is. Some practices might have fancy tricks to help you to focus. But that's all it is. The key to getting better at this is simple. Every time your mind wants to interrupt you with a thought or a story, just bring your attention back to observing the present moment. Every time. Over and over. As long as you can. As much as you can. And pretty soon, you will be able to remain present for much longer periods of time. With far less effort than when you started practicing. After a while you will begin to notice a peacefulness arising from within you. As the longer you spend in a state of presence, the less your mind is allowed to dictate your thoughts, feelings, anxiety, desire, fear, emotions. And you will notice a separation between your mind and YOU. You are consciousness itself. The watcher. The mind is under your observation. You can observe your mind thinking and reacting without being at it's mercy. Without giving up the peace you feel while present. Doing this enough, you will be able to maintain presence while doing daily activities. Working. Talking to people. Driving. Writing. Creating art. All without allowing the mind to dictate your actions or thoughts. And people will start to notice how different you seem. It is quite powerful. So it's literally the power of now. The power of fully tapping into the now. Kendrick is enlightened. Whether he's performing in the studio, or on a stage with 10,000 people around him... He is focused on doing what he is doing, while he is doing it. There is no difference between the two. The performance is the same. There is nothing to stress about. Norhing to fear. The only thing that could cause him to become distracted is his mind interrupting what he's doing. But there is nothing to think about. So he remains present. Connected with his body and his environment. No sweat. Literally. And of course it's hot in the room. So occasionally us uses the towel. But while he's doing it, he's not allowing his mind to convince him of something like *"you're sweating too much! What if you look unattractive right now because you're so sweaty?! What if you have something in your nose and everyone's looking at it?! What if you trip and fall?! What if what if what if?!"* And because of that, Kendrick was able to perform one of the most memorable moments in the history of live music... In rap or any genre. Flawlessly. Like a machine built for just that activity. Which is how he lives how life.

Ppl gotta understand that the freedom of life is the way Kendrick Lamar does it. He isn’t a slave of record companies, public opinion, pop culture, etc. And still have the money, the respect, the notoriety, and the privacy of his personal life and space. If that ain’t living, idk wtf is

The Heart Part 6 release was GREAT strategy from drake. Kendrick said the rabbit hole's deep and he can go further, PLUS he has 5 more bullets in the chamber, drake escaped with a couple of cuts and bruises but he still has his legacy. I have a feeling Kendrick does have receipts for what he's saying, and he's saving them for a rainy day, like a great strategist, even if he hasn't, he's made enough of a statement to make people back down.

@@thomasmachok4088keyword: classic. Drake has many hits but a hit is different from a classic. Kendrick’s alright is a classic while Drake’s God’s plan is a hit. Alright will be replayed many years from now becos its message rhymes with people’s lives.

@@joneschilufya867 I agree Kendrick gave us classics but where I disagree is where this person stated Drake gave us 0 good albums I believe he did early on specially take care and nothing was the same were good not classic just good but the rest lack direction is just hit songs put together without executing the concept of the album
