This is a long video freeing up an old kenmore sewing machine that has seized. Sorry it’s so long but it was the whole process of getting it moving again. Maybe it could be useful to some by with the same problem.

Thank you!!! The wheel on my 46 year old Kenmore machine seized in the middle of a project. Your video saved my machine.

I’ve had this Kenmore since it was brand new waaaaaaay back in the ‘70’s! It’s still going strong! Keeping it clean, and free of dust accumulation inside, has meant I’ve only needed it maintenance-serviced 6 times in all the years since. Great machine!

That was awesome. So many good pointers. I found myself following along with your tutorial. Especially was impressed with the loading up the gear cavity to the max. I had done mine already, but decided to remove the cover and jam some more in there.

I also have an old kenmore that I haven't used since 2006. When I put her away for a bit, she was clean, freshly oiled, well timed and running well. But, I learned that some oils tend to gum up and solidify. Thanks to you, i began to clean her up. She too was stuck and wouldn't move. Ive got her soaking in WD40. I'll mess with it more tomorrow ant take a brush to clean the joints and get rid of sticky gunk. Your vid was very helpful. Thankyou.

I figured it out? When I saw you move that switch above the stitch wheel thingy I did the same to mine and BOOM! We are in business, baby! I think I used the whole bottle of sewing machine oil, though. 🤣 You should have seen the GOB of grease in this thing, it filled the entire cabinet! Thank you so much for this video.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm about to try to resurrect my Mom's old machine, 148.15600, and it's quite similar. I exclusively use Triflow oil on my machines so that the Wd-40 isn't needed. I just found out Mom has faithfully used her same tin of 3'n'1 oil (the worst!) for the last 40+ years.. Thank you again!

Thank you for this great video! I picked up this exact same machine today and it was frozen solid. So I just followed your vid and holy cow! the machine works like it is brand new! YaY! I will let it sit overnight & get some new grease in that gear box. I am sew happy. This seems like a great machine.

Thanks for the vid. I have an 80's Viking 6690 and the wheel does not turn freely. The machine sews OK, but I have not lubricated all metal gears and shafts. After I do I'm sure it will rotate.

I rescued a 148.13110 that the Needle bar eccentric screws at the top and bottoms were accidentally moved - can you show how to adjust needle bar position and zig zag sweep?

Ok, I’ve oiled just about all the pieces I can reach on my Kenmore 158.14101. If I crank the wheel by hand everything moves now. Until I plug it in and press on the electric foot pedal. I can see the needle move up a little, then down, and then… nada. Any suggestions on what to check next?

My clutch will not turn towards me to use the bobbin maker. It sews perfectly. How do it get it to turn towards me? I’m the only owner and it’s not put together wrong since I’ve never had to open it.

There is nothing that wpuld physically stop it from turning than just being tightened by the factory or old oil turning sticky. I would put a few drops of oil right where it’s screwed in and put some brute force into it.

Maybe the stitch selector is in blind hem , does it look like an EKG readout? Try making sure the stitch width is at zero and it should straight stitch correctly. Good luck!🍀

When I need my tools at home, they are at the warehouse…. When I need them at the warehouse they ate at home… and when I need them in both areas they are lost. The downside of ADHD 🤣

@@AniaProts Hi Anai, I have ADHD too and just a suggestion. What if you had two sets of tools; one for each place? Also I was so happy to find you! I was going to get rid of my machine because the wheel has been frozen for many many years and I'm embarrassed to say I have not used it, or tried to get it repaired...
