This year honorees are jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pop star Cher, country music legend Reba McEntire, composer Philip Glass, and the creators of the musical, "Hamilton." Norah O’Donnell reports.

l like all of Them. But some of Them l love!!!!! February 6th l will go at Cher concert in Chicago. August 9th l will go at Queen with Adam Lambert concert in Chicago too!!!! Finaly l want to say.... I love Cher sooou much!!!! And l love Adam Lambert sooooou much too specialy together with Queen!!!! 12.08.18.

The Kennedy Center opened to the public in September 1971. But its roots date back to 1958, when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed bipartisan legislation creating a National Cultural Center. To honor Eisenhower's vision for such a facility, one of the Kennedy Center's theaters is named for him. The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture (regardless of their citizenship). The honors have been presented annually since 1978, culminating each December in a star-studded gala celebrating the honorees in the Kennedy Center Opera House. The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes exceptional artists who have made enduring & indelible marks on our culture. How sad the **** in the White House did not to attend for the 2nd year in a row. This is a time honored tradition that every president has attended since the creation of the awards. The spoiled brat, obviously raised without morals & class, can stomp his foot all he wants & refuse to participate, however, the Kennedy Center will continue to honor the legends in the arts of entertainment.

It is unfortunate that only 5 awardees are selected every year, although it's obvious that in order to create a feasible TV program, length has to be a factor in making a choice. I am saying this because it was very noticeable this year that two of the honorees were not really physically able to participate fully in the event. In selecting them, the person or persons who made the selection, probably should have been aware that they might have needed some assistance in publicly acknowledging their award, such as standing at the end of the segment, etc. It seems a shame that they could not have been honored several years ago!

ok now can they honor Dionne Warwick before its too late... no shade to Hamilton but waaayyyy too soon for this type honor. These honors are meant for decades of work and performance. I also thought the LL Cool J honor was too soon.

The K Honors is and uplifting high energy evening. TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE DON TO BE THERE. Thos honored worked hard, often sacrificed to be that good and that adimired and respected. Cant cheat and lie to get there.

You think this crap is it politically motivated. The Kennedy Center Honors has always been for a lifetime of Achievement Award but to make their statement as they always do with political correctness they honor the producing and creators of Hamilton who haven't been around but a few years and have maybe one or two could shows out of their belt. It's almost criminal when you think about all the other artists that should be recognized before them.

Mighty Hex If you asking this question,you don,t know Adam Lambert like singer!!!!!! l saw him 2 times with solo and l will see Him with Queen 3 th time in Chicago08.09.19. Adam very very talented singer and big reason why Brian May and Roger Tylor invited Him to be lead vocalist. They already touring together 6 years around the World and still going strong,and Adam won milions of people hearts!!!!

Mighty Hex l don,t know too,but l saw on TV this tribute concert. Cher gave to Adam standing ovation and she got in tears. Still Adam was singing with Cyndi Lauper ,,You got me babe" at the end. Was very beautiful duet. Looks like people were happy!!!!

I'm disappointed Lady Ga, Ga or Beyonce didn't sing a classic CHER 70's dance/disco hit "Take me home" in all it's glory. The famous album cover for "Take me home" featured CHER in a Bob Mackie created viking costume. Picturing Lady Ga, Ga paying tribute to CHER in that costume singing "Take me home" would have brought the house down. To me this tribute to CHER was a disappointment for all her millions of fan's around the world.
