PART 2. As I was going thru boxes of my old VHS tapes, I found this little gem. A wonderful vintage video from December 9, 1984. Its the Variety Club's 9th Annual All-Star Party: This year honoring Lucille Ball. Filled with her friends and family; Hosted by Monty Hall. Featuring Joan Collins, Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, Carl Reiner and Sid Caesar, John Ritter, Vicky Mc clure, Shelley Long, Dean Martin, Jimmy Stewart, Gary Morton, Sammy Davis, Jr. who delivers a moving tribute to Lucy, Mr. Burt Reynolds. Capped off with a special song to Lucy from her son Desi Arnaz, Jr. and daughter Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill who is visibly moments away from giving birth. Monty introduces Lucy and she gives a very heartfelt Thank You to everyone for making the evening possible.

She said he was a great stepfather to her and Desi Jr. and that he made her mom happy because he was stable, loving and kind. He respected her enduring love for Desi and their past relationship. @@joseguerrero7723 She never stopped loving Desi but they both realized they weren’t meant to be married to each other. You can love someone deeply and not be able to live with them in a long term relationship like marriage, that was the case with the two of them. They both remarried wonderful people who loved them till the end of their days.

Imho, certain feelings were expressed in this moment, by both Lucie and Desi Jr. Watch their faces after Sammi Davis Jr. made his remarks. Lucie's "smiling" and clapping, and Desi Jr. looks almost surprised and/or upset (angry?). Does anyone know the source of her kids' angst? Even if someone asked, I doubt they'd share their stories. They respect and love their mother. Lucille Ball, truly a global and timeless legend.

Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Sinatra, Jimmy Stewart, Gloria Stewart, Marvin Davis, Barbara Davis, Loni Anderson, Burt Reynolds, Gary Morton all at one table-now a table like that will never again be seen in the history of this world. Lucy still teaches us though she passed away many years ago that innocent clean humor, and class and being a good mother transcend all the gutter celebrities you see today who stoop to obscenities, trashy sex, drugs and false charity. You may be gone dear Lady but you are definitely not forgotten. Truly one of the worlds greatest class acts.

What's funny about it is that Lucy hated several of these people...including Jimmy Stuart who lived across the street from her. Most of these stars were putting on an act. She was known in Beverly Hills as "Everybody hates Lucy" because she was such a cruel person. True statement.
@LJ-ht4zs

@@jaf8771 Not true. Where do you get your information??? I guess we can't believe all the stars who were on tv or acted in the movies with her - People like Bette Midler, Carol Burnette, Henry Fonda, Betty White, George Burns, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Dinah Shore, Bill Holden Red Skelton etc. etc. btw Lucille Ball had her original writers Madelyn Pugh and Bob Caroll, Jr come from her radio show, to all 3 tv shows ; as well as people like Gale Gordon, who also knew her from the radio show and worked in some capacity on all 3 tv shows. One does not get that loyalty for decades if your are a terrible person. She was also good friends from the 30's with Carol Lombard and Clark Gable, they also lived close by as did Jack Benny. Never heard from anybody that Lucy hated several of the people as you suggested - I guess Sammy Davis Jr also was a fool or a liar considering his tribute?

What a magical event. I grew up watching Lucy. My Great Grandma loved her so much. Every time I stayed with her, we'd always watch I Love Lucy or the Lucy Show and I can hear my Grandma's laughter now. I had a very rough childhood, but those visits with my Grandma were the best and fondest memories I have from those years... Both she and Lucille Ball passed away in 1989, but I will always love Lucy. In fact, I love Lucille Ball now more so in my adult years than ever before. I watch the old episodes with a heavy heart because Lucy will always remind me of my Great Grandmother, Luella. Thank you so much for sharing this truly beautiful tribute. No one will ever come close to comparing to Lucille Ball and there will never be another like her. If only we could go back in time to that Golden era in Hollywood... RIP Lucille Ball, you magnificent soul. I will always cherish you. 🌹

willfade 79 Thank you for sharing your story. I also appreciate Lucille Ball now more than ever 2022. I am actually the same age as Lucy when she died, 77. Enjoy one of her shows every day during these covid times - warmth and laughter. Also have seen her movies during this time: two dramas A+ Lured and In A Dark Corner; Easy to Wed; DuBarry was a Lady, Dance Girl Dance; Stage Door; The Long Long Trailer; Yours, Mine, and Ours; Forever Darling (which I really liked - it was panned) and many others. Thank you Lucille for giving us happiness, joy, and belly laughs.

I was born in the late 1960s until this day I still watch I Love Lucy and I would watch it every time they showed it on TV. Where I live they currently show it at the wee hours of the morning. I ordered and bought her DVD collection of I Love Lucy. I miss them very much!❤ They no longer make movies like they used to. Her husband Gary was so good to her they were married 28 years. Always funny... Lucy was a gift to us ALL!❤😢❤

Thank you so much for sharing these videos! I love Lucille Ball very much, I wasn't alive when she was on tv, but I love her, her talent and you can tell she loved what she did and she was so humble and kind! The world is better off having had a person like Lucille Ball in it and the people in Hollywood now can learn a lot from Lucille Ball!

Only 5 years left on this earth she had then. Accept all in all what a long remarkable extraordinary gifted full good life she really did have. I love to see events such as this for her with her friendd and loved one's. I think it's quite obvious that Gary loved her very much, and she him. I believe they were happy together as he provided for her not only love, but an overall sense of comfort benevolence and "trust" in her life that she so needed. However, there was always still that tinge of sadness we see, no matter how well she tried to mask it. 20 years was a long time to be married to a man who was, I believe, her true life and love. Who gave her two wonderful beautiful children who turned out pretty darn good and made her proud. I was recently reading a old Reader Magazine interview with Marcella Rabwin of Gone with the Wind fame. She was a very close lifelong friend of Lucille Ball's. She stated Desi did love Lucy very much, and vice versa. But said that Desi drank too much too often, was over sexed, had a too often public penchant for chorus girls and whores and embarrassing scenes which was the source of many heated arguments, frustrations and humiliation to Lucy. But she wound always forgive him in the end, most likely in the name of their young children. But Marcella said it was very sad, because they did love one another, that he just couldn't seem to help it all. King Alcohol destroys people. I myself have seen it be the worst of worst, over and over, in so many ways. Tears whole families apart! But it all came to The End when one day Lucy came home to find Desi in bed with some other, in their home in Beverly Hills. That was her final straw. And the rest is history. But I don't believe for a min that they ever completely got over one another. And Gary understood, as I'm sure did Edith, Desi's wife.
