NOPE, NOT even. I HATE that Song. 😬 👎 ha ha. 😝 😂 He Sings a Duet WITH Sheena Easton that is 80 x (times) WAY 💕 👍 BETTER ("We've Got Tonight") than "Islands In The Stream" (HATE this Song, ha ha)! And BEFORE ANYONE cusses me out (Save IT, haha!), because i AM a BiiiiiiiiiiG FAN of Dolly Parton (LOVE her Tennessee Voice) And i DO LOVE Kenny Roger's sexy, raspy Voice, But their Song ("Islands...") IS WAY Too YUCKY Together (NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO---- YUCK, ha ha)! 😝 😂

Thank you listening. Our Gambler finally broke even himself and left with us with an Ace we can all keep. I'm incredibly sad that he died. My earliest memories of music include him. The world lost a treasure. He was one of the best. One of my earliest memories of Kenny Rogers was watching him sing "Three Times a Lady" to Barbara Mandrell and her sisters. And of course dancing around with a tennis racket guitar, listening to his record. Mom said that "Coward of the County" was the second song I learned to sing when I was little. I can't remember a time when I didn't know every word of The Gambler. I'm glad you liked it. He'll live on forever as long as people like you keep his music alive.

My first recollection of Kenny Rogers was singing a song called, "I Just Dropped in to See What Condition My Condition Was in". How's that for a title. I saw Kenny in concert in the early 80s. Women would approach the stage to hand him a rose as he sang and he would graciously accept. On one occasion, a woman approached the stage carrying a beautifully dressed little girl, maybe 3 years old. When she held up the little girl to hand the yellow rose to Kenny...he didn't take the rose. He took the little girl. He walked around the stage holding the little girl in his arms as he sang to her. Wow!

I took my ex to see him on Mar 17, 1984 in Honolulu, a month after our daughter was born. We sat 7 rows from the stage, not far from Tom Selleck and Lionel Ritchie, who helped him sing Lady. He sang Lucille, Coward of the county, Islands in the Stream, and some of his First Edition Hits, Ruby don't take your love to town, Just dropped in, but his biggest hit, The Gambler produced 3 movies, and the nickname that stuck with him, for the rest of his career. When you said the gambler, you would automatically think of Kenny Rogers RIP Gambler.

I was just watching a couple of his performances of him singing "Lady" like 3 days ago.. Was thinking about his age, given that he looked fairly old when that song came out in the 1980's. So it felt like a strange coincidence when I saw a thumbnail on KZfaq saying that he had just passed. Had a similar experience when one of my favorite artists, Daryle Singletary, passed a couple of years ago. I was showing my friend a couple of videos of his performances like 3 days before he unexpectedly passed. He was only 42. Edit: When the news broke, and I showed my mom, she told me that she actually saw Kenny Rogers in Oklahoma City on a school field trip. Which would've been in the 1970's. Lol I was kinda shocked.. Almost as shocked as when she told me that she saw KISS at a fair when she was 16. She said she didn't stick around because she didn't like KISS and wanted to ride the fair rides. Hard to believe KISS and Kenny Rogers have been around that long. Lol

Kenny Rodgers was a Legend and a household name. I remember being little listening to the Gambler and other hits. I've seen people recommend most of his greatest songs but I haven't seen anyone suggest "Ruby" yet. That's a sad one but a classic.

“You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, & know when to run, you never count your $ when you’re sittin’ at the table, they’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done!” Sushi, I remember this song as a little girl under 10 yrs old. I had a record player with a 45 of the song Coward Of The County, but my parents listened to him and I fell in love with his music.

I grew up on Kenny Rogers. Loved seeing him do this song with the Muppets as a kid. And his duets with Dolly Parton. And even the song he did with Home Free.

One of Kenny's first hits was "Ruby". It was written by another famous country musician; Mel Tillis. It's an hard hitting song with vivid symbology!

I'm an old school hip-hop head but Kenny was one of my favorite artists. My eyes actually welled up when I heard of his passing. My grandmother listened to him so I grew up hearing his records. I first heard this probably when I was 10 years old, maybe younger. I'd love to hear your reaction to "Lady." It's one of absolute favorite songs.

Coward of the County, The Gambler, both made into multiple movies. Lady was a song he gave to his friend Lionel Richie. Islands in the Stream, written for him by Barry Gibbs of The Bee Gees became a monster hit when he made it a duet with Dolly Parton. His first band The First Edition was one of my very first records. He will truly be missed
