Cuz always brings a smile to whomever is listening. I would love to spend a day listening to his behind the scenes stories. BUT...the difference between a good or great interview is on account of who is asking the questions. Great repost Otis. But I've never watched a bad interview on your KZfaq channel. Thanks Otis...I would bet you have one or two we haven't heard yet. Thanks again bd best of health to you and your my good man...❤

I already saw most of these interviews, but I am in awe that he remembers all of the amps. He is the ultimate guitar nerd who got to play and hang with the legends. He's the only guy who I could see playing with the Ramones and then with someone like Dolly Parton and fit in. He is one of one, no one like him.

I love what Kenny said about Tom Petty putting more of himself into his music than most would, and how that little band was Us Against The World. I saw it when I worked in a record store when the first album came out. That was right when all these mega albums were coming out from the Bee Gees and Donna Summer. And here comes this catchy little guitar record that grabs your ear right away, and then Tom sings, "It's alright if you love me/It's alright if you don't", and that was it. They got their foot in the door with that song, and they never slowed down! So many rock anthems, real rock and roll anthems. TP dying hurt me so bad, like I know it did a lot of people. Damn, I'm not crying, you're crying!

Yeah it's always a pleasure hearing Kenny talk about all of the musical experiences of his life...He is one of my favorite storytellers. I think he really touched on what Petty was all about, music was the most important thing in his life. His phenomenal songs are a testament to that. His death really hit me hard too, I really couldn't listen to him for about a year after that. It hurt too much. What a tragic loss.

What a great interview! I saw that show where Kenny was with Lucinda on that tour with Dylan and Van Morrison. I was already a big fan of Lucinda and that was the first time seeing her. Most of the people around us didn't know who she was, but man, my wife and I were totally excited to see her. And Kenny! He had tone for miles and killer phrasing. Everything about his persona and what he was doing on guitar floored me and I became a fan that day. It was my favorite set from that tour.

Great memories from Kenny. Slight timeline correction. The first time Kenny heard Jimi must have been Feb 14 in Denver in the early days of the 1968 US tour. Soft Machine was the support act on that tour which started in February. Soft Machine had never been to the US until then and they were completely unknown. They had not even made their first LP at that time. Kenny is correct about the opening two numbers; Up From the Sky's and Foxey Lady. I saw Jimi March 2 1968 at Hunter College NY City and that is exactly the same two numbers he played that night. And Yes! Soft Machine were absolutely incredible. We did not think Jimi would be able to follow. How wrong were were. I saw Jimi 2 more times in 1968 and twice in 1969; Madison Sq Garden in May and Woodstock. Peace.

I had to stop the playback for a second to write one of the gazillion road dog guitar player memories Kenny evokes in me everytime i get to hear him testify. I might possibly be a little older than kenny (and you too Otis;-) but the chronicles of intsrtuments, live performance, and artists Kenny shares is always dead on point for me. -During Covid lockdown I spent the summer geting into Way out West and became a huge fan of Marty and of course Kenny on guitar. It all makes total sense now how they got together with Mike (Campbell) to record the album. I have to ask is Mike why Kenny gravitated to useing a Rickenbacker 12 string so much on the Album and tour? How about Marty's comparing the band bus to Willie Nelsons?;-). As always thanks Kenny for being so cool, and Thanks also to you too Otis for the same.. Really great stuff!..
