They had Born With a Broken Heart on it, and I have been hooked since! I also, have seen both he and SRV live! SRV is still my favorite, but KWS is an amazing guitarist. Sadly, outside of SRV, blues and blues rock get fewer hits than a lot of other musical genres, so there isn't a lot of reaction videos. I hope this changes!

To explain the depth of the song a bit better. I think KWS' description from an interview best sums it up. In an August 2017 interview, Shepherd discussed the song's origins: We wrote that when we were down in New Orleans - me, Mark and Tia. I had the music, and Mark and I were just rolling with the music and tried to develop things up. Tia came up with this idea based on a shirt that I was wearing that was blue and black. She noticed the two colors that were dominant on my shirt, and if you mix those two colors together, black consumes the blue. It doesn't amount to anything if you put the two together: You still have one color, instead of creating a new color. So she built on that idea, and it became this really deep song. It's really up to the listener to determine how they apply it. So many people have applied it to a death in the family, an abusive relationship, a broken relationship, or whatever. There are so many different ways. That's what's beautiful about music and lyrics is trying to write a song that the listener can apply to their own experience in whatever way seems fit. And that's one of those songs. Written by Shepherd with Mark Selby and Tia Sellers

Because I was friends with the club owner we went early while the stage and equipment were being set up. My son went back stage and ended up hanging out on Kenny's tour bus and playing video games with him til time for the show. Kenny signed my son's Gibson, alongside BB King's and Doyle Bramhall II's signatures. 👍👍💜💚💛✌️ Forgot to add that after the second show, my son mentioned to the band that it was my birthday and they all hugged me, wished me happy birthday and and bought me beer. The musical collaboration of this song is crossover between Memphis blues and rock. Everything that the song refers to is a loss of something that you can’t get back. Spending you life trying to regain that loss is like wasted time… the small gets lost in the big, loss is going to happen in life. It’s moving forward that is the hardest part of loss. Every lyric in this song such as a match on a fire and tears in a river. What seems like something big happening to you when put into perspective by looking at the bigger picture, one realizes things are going to happen, some we can control, most we can’t. Deal with it, move on because in the grand scheme of things, your big thing is really finite when viewed the larger perspective.

And that sound Kenny gets with his guitar is his use of the Octavio which Jimi used on Purple Haze, Fire, and others. Great song!

Yay! KWS hometown boy shout out from your sister city Bossier City, La! Kenny Wayne Shepherd is the blonde guy. He was a child guitar prodigy and grew up right across the River from where I live in Shreveport Louisiana! He’s amazing and I love to see more of the great talent that came from right here in Louisiana! ❤️❤️

Kenny Wayne led to a resurgence of the Blues for a time (it happens every 8-10 years). The other guy who brought the Blues to the masses at this time was also a tyoung, blonde white dude named Johnny Lang.

Kenny Wayne Shepherds hero was Stevie Ray Vaughan so he's tryed to emulate him and he's become a great guitarist and song writer in his own right. I'm from Canada and I wish you would cover more Canadian bands other than Rush, who by the way I love. I've seen them three times. If you don't mind I'll name a few. Love your channel, so keep up the good work. Here's a few Canadian bands-- Chilliwack, Bryan Adams, Nickelback, Avril Levene, Rush, Loverboy, Streetheart, Neil Young and crazy horse, Neil Sadaka, Baughman Turner Overdrive or B.T.O. for short, Alana Miles, Alana Morriset, Toronto, F.M., The Guess Who, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Aldo Nova, April Wine, Gordon Lightfoot, The Tragically Hip, Rough Trade, Blue Rodeo, Anne Murray, Shania Twain, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, Bare Naked Ladies, Triumph, The Northern Pikes and Redrider or Tom Cockoran and Redrider, to name a few. I'm sure I'm missing some. Most of these bands have had number one hits and the one's that haven't are still great, in my mind anyways. I don't know if you read the comments but it would be nice to see Canadian bands get the recognition they so deserve. We're punching way above our weight when it comes to great bands. Some would say "there's something in the water" up here in the Great White North. I'd like you to start with F.M.'s "Phasers On Stun". there's a multitude of great songs to pick from all these bands. Not to get to political but the U.S. is our greatest allie and trading partner, so I sincerely hope that you can get out from under the thumb of your previous president. We are really worried that your democracy is endangered and will be replaced with a facist, undemocratic dictatorship. Canadians love America and it's people, so I wish you luck because it seems that you're one step away from civil war. Up here we have a saying that "when the U.S. sneezes Canada gets a cold" so stay safe from the Coronavirus and I wish you and your family the best of luck in the new year. So have a merry Christmas and I hope 2022 is better than 2021. I say that music is the glue that holds us together in tough times! Adios Amigo!

I was lucky enough to attend a G3 concert (guitar x 3), at the Shoreline Amphitheater, up here in Mt. View, Ca. The main 3 were JOE SATRIANI, STEVE VAI, AND YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. As if three guitar gods weren't enough, Kenny Wayne Sheppard was the opening act. When he joined them onstage for the epic G3 jam, there was another surprise guest; Neil Schon, lead guitarist for Journey. It was EPIC.
