It's about time that we get serious about our place in the world of Kenshi, so we need a base to reflect that seriousness. A serious base. I believe a little bit of building and remodeling is in order!
In other news, I'm working on an Exanima video covering a bit of the latest update, 0.7.2, so if you liked my Exanima videos definitely look forward to that!

That would certainly be very fitting wouldn't it! However I fear that the more I improve on it the less and less it'll look like a rabbit, more like a deformed rabbit I suppose😄

Hey as a person with 600+ hours of this game I can confidently say that the best way to get engineering research or ancient Science books/AI cores is to just use a sneaky character to steal everything from ancient labs or the ashlands.

Do you have any experience with the General Modifications Mod? It changes a lot, research is a lot harder to come across, I mean I haven't been to an ancient lab or the Ashlands yet so I don't really know lol But you're right I'm sure those places still have it regardless!

hades2cool Somewhat of a late response, but with general modifications half eaten books and parachments can be made into science books via the writing desk, I’m sure that building is unlocked without research. Additionally, what I’ve done was that I went into the moss’s files using the FCS and changed the book spawn rate, the spawn rate within the mod was down to 20, which normally is 100. In conclusion try to change the mods file and collect every parachment and half eaten books.

I recommend you place the ramps far away from your turrets, you don't want easy access to your gunners if an enemy ever breaks through.

With my walls, there are usually a few spots on the walls that are inaccessible due to path-finding issues, so while you're absolutely right about putting the ramps far away from the turrets, if I place them too far there's a good chance they won't be able to get to where they're needed unfortunately :(

@@hades2cool Definitely an issue! Have you tried playing around with editor mode(shift+F12)? Sometimes you can shift things and fix the path finding after re-loading.

Hey, have you let any of them use a heavy weapon ? (preferably soldier drone, since they have bonus to strenth ), because they will be devastating a group of enemy there if there are enough strength and defend

For not everyone is using those ninja swords the Black Dragon Ninja's were so kind enough to lend to me, I like them because they're very fast and do good cutting damage. But at some point I will be having some of my fighters using heavier weapons! I'd like my soldier drones to use melee and my princes and drones to use ranged weapons

@@hades2cool I remember those 'band of bone' bandit group tend to have heavy weapon, so take notice of that, beside another factor is when you get surrounded, there will be less chance to swing because you will be quite busy to do defend animation just for that, so that why heavy weapon will help that since not only it can hit multiple enemy, it also mean it will stagger a whole group, so you will have more chance and moment to swing more without have to use more defend animation (the proof is this guy in 8:42 of the video below, he go full solo again a WHOLE village of cannibal, and win while walk out of it, although barely ) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pOCSq82mkrPIfKM.html (of course, try to make sure the heavy weapon he use will be either light enough or strong enough for normal swing speed there, so he can finish attack animation quick enough to switch to defend one in time, maybe the toughness stats will help with that for avoid long stagger )

love, LOVE the new video, ( THIS IS OHATOH ), idont know where my past comments have gone? but yh "organizational building" smart and for your gate and wall I like it... iam sure there is a reason why you shaped your walls specifically the way you did, I think so anyway and the same goes to the way you positioned your buildings, iam sure theres a very good reason why you are doing it the way you are and if you have plan in regards that you are following then I cant wait to understand it and see it in action. my comments on my youtube account "ohatoh" on your last two videos unfortunately have seemed to disappeared.... I do still plan on giving you good defensive war tips and tactics to earn my spot among your colony as hopefully a soldier named ohatoh who is short and wields my all time favorite weapon, a "foreign blade", a saber or a katana of some sort in short. so WARTIPS/TACTICS and ADVISE..... not all battles will happen by your gate as you would know, you might be caught off guard.... iam thinking WATCHTOWERS.... there are certain buildings where you can mount crossbows and harpoons on the roof.... they would be good situated by your more popular used buildings such as the hq for example.... or better yet standing by buildings that once full will be more cramped and clustered and the could prove even more useful near your gate..... ( but not too close, the enemies might go for your harpooners if theres nothing stopping them from getting to em ). ANOTHER ONE, INNER WALLS AND GATES! its good to have layers and passages… just make sure they are well positioned defensively and also for easy in and out access productively to make the most out of the potential functionality that can be applied.... I know you just removed a set of walls but you may have removed that wall regardless... its upto you though, in a big outpost like that its not completely necessary, not in this play through and area anyway but it can be helpful knowledge no?, and extra layer to protect your farmers or just to protect your turret men near the gate might be able to prevent potential bodily costs although you are good at keeping your men alive however. LASTLY one more thing you may apply that can be helpful.... I don't know if you have already decided on this, you may have but what are beak things to you and your colony? terrifying? or useful?, they may help as a means of sourcing meat/food... however they can also be a pain.... have you considered making a body furnace? I don't think it will be a good idea personally, the beak things may provide useful until you get a rhymical cropping/ farming pattern going my apologies for the long comments.... @hades2cool, sorry to ask but have my comments on my account OHATOH been deleted on your past 2 videos? I cannot seem to find em.

I'm very sorry I'm just now getting to this, but it seems that you're last two comments, and also this one, were actually marked as spam! I've cleared them and gave them my approval since clearly, they're not spam. I apologize for this, it's a shame youtube's algorithm caused you to look for your comments when they weren't even there, but hopefully, it won't happen in the future. I greatly appreciate ANY constructive criticisms, general comments, and above all TIPS! So believe me when I say that you're comments and advice are welcomed and always taken into consideration! 😄 On another note, I do have plans to expand on the base, like you mention an inner wall would be very beneficial! I plan(at some point) to make one, I'm just a little leery on it because I'm not sure how upgrading the walls will work for whenever I research the higher level walls. But I'll have those dang walls at some point! Watchtowers would also be a good thing to have, a few harpoons or crossbows on them could be really effective. I've also been needing to expand on my crops and farms, currently, all I'm producing is hemp, cactus, and a little bit of wheatstraw. I'd like to vastly expand on this, especially with the 'General Modifications Mods' since it implements various other crop types that aren't in the vanilla game. Once again I'm sorry about your comments not showing up! I should have checked my spam box sooner than I did, but I'm glad we got all that straightened out! 😄

When I tried to redesign my base all enemies and traders would stop where my gate used to be, I tried importing, I restarted the game, but nothing worked.

That's a pain, I've noticed that the path-finding in this game can be quite finicky at times. I've had issues that an import didn't solve the first time, resolved on an import the second though. You could also try and reload the sector in the in-game editor!
