I totally agree with you. I've loved Kentucky basketball for a long time but I think if I hear one more person whine about Calipari being washed up and that he needs to leave, I'm going to take a break from social media. I honestly don't think the majority of them remember where the program was at when Calipari came to Lexington. It's hard to survive and advance in the tournament. Probably the toughest challenge in sports is getting to a Final Four. And like you said, Calipari is doing it with a brand new squad every season. Trying to get these kids to buy into sharing the ball and defense. I'm a hard core Kentucky fan and it's hard for me to not stand behind the program. I'm just getting so sick of the whining over Calipari. The more BBN cries, the more haters pile it on. It's better just to stay positive. We'll be back on top. I think most people are going to be surprised with this team by the time March comes around.

I've made the comment on when I the KSR Bar Matt asked "fans" if they were happy with what Stoops has done they all raised their hands then asked how Cal was doing none raised their hands and as a 30+ year fan I've commented in question form, how many Championships has Cal brought to Rupp, 1 and how many will Stoops bring, Zero, it'll never happen so our fans like football bowl games, by the way we got utterly embarrassed this year, our fans would rather have that than an NCAA Championship? 😂 Absolutely laughable and makes us as fans look extremely ignorant. @@erikcox8749 I saw that KSR Bar clip a few days ago. The results of Matt's informal poll were a little shocking. From the hands I saw, some of the percentages Matt reported seemed significantly off, but they clearly like what Stoops has done up until now and not what Calipari has done up until now. Kentucky fans don't have to choose between football and basketball. I agree with you that at UK, Cal is much more likely to win a championship than Stoops. But, I don't count Stoops out, because he's rebuilt Kentucky into a really good program. The thing utterly embarrassing about this past season's bowl game was the score. It was 2 great defenses. On offense, UK's starting quarterback and outstanding running back both declined to play, so I figured it was going to be even more difficult offensively. Iowa's only scoring drive was 2 plays for 42 yards and a touchdown. Iowa's defense had their only other scores. The total yards were very close. Iowa was a crazy 0-11 on 3rd down and 0-2 on 4th down--Kentucky was 2-18 and 3-5 respectively. So, it was a true rubber match, but with an embarrassing score from 2 pick-sixes. Next season's football schedule is set up for a plane crash. There's some really difficult games that UK probably won't be favored in, followed by games that could turn into back-to-back losses (@GA, MO, TN, @MS St, AL, @SC). So, I think next season will be particularly difficult, and then some rabid fans will pile on Stoops. For Stoops' sake, I'm glad that the rabid fans don't seem to remember UK's Paul "Bear" Bryant days, when UK was arguably the national champion.

Why can’t you do both? The amount of money in college athletics now especially in the SEC with the tv deals, there is no reason why money should be an issue. You can have both but you need a leader who is looking forward and not following behind everyone else. Mitch is a follower not a leader. I don’t have a massive problem with Mitch but he never invested in football until stoops told him unless he upstaged the facilities he wasn’t coming. To have to force an AD to invest in the biggest money sport on campus is pretty sad. The alcohol sales although don’t bother me too much is still a thing that bugs alot of people because it simply shows he isn’t looking for other revenue streams and his religious beliefs are playing too big a roll in his business decisions. His decisions shouldn’t be about what he wants but what’s best for the university and it’s revenue.

Interesting comments. I'm a Cats fan and a UK grad. I agree with you that university spending is out of control. And the new NIL spending is too--after all the decades of the NCAA going after rogue boosters, the court now lets boosters payroll players. A few months ago, I was shocked at how much NIL money UT had lined up for a yet-to-be-signed quarterback, but it conforms with the new rules. At UK, decades ago, one of my dormmates was a diehard UT fan. He'd drive around Lexington at night, searching for a good spot for AM radio reception to listen to the football games. 😂 I felt bad for him circa 2009-17. I think UT football has a great coach now. (In another thread under this video, I said that I think UK AD Mitch Barnhart, football coach Mark Stoops, and basketball coach John Calipari are all doing generally great jobs.) What is it that happened with UT football circa 2009-17 that was such a mess?
