Kenwood TS-940S Dot display problem, PLL out of lock.
Phase Lock Loops (PLL) going out of lock.
Dot display problem is a Common Fault on the TS range, google and you will find lots of repair ideas.
My fix based on visual inspection was to re-solder all the joints on the underside of the Digital A-unit and the PLL board then clean and re-seat all the connectors on both boards.

Thanks for the video. Ignore the whiners below. I'm either going to sell mine or put it in the oven at 350'c for an hour to see if it resolders itself...cheers

Not yet. It’s on my to-do list, along with replacing the power supply with a Compudigital Industries replacement kit.

Very instructive but is there a way to bring in some treble and not so much bass? Hard to understand.

Great video! Any idea why my display disappeared completely? I sat for about 8 years and worked for about 10 minutes when i powered it up after sitting, The battery on the board is definitely corroded and needs replaced, which I can do if I can find the part
