Kenyan- Somali MPs oppose Ethiopia -Somalia deal

MPs from the North Eastern region now want the UN, AU, and IGAD to intervene and force Ethiopia to rescind its decision to take a port and part of Somaliland territory. Led by Eldas MP Adan Keynan, the MPs insist the memorandum between Ethiopia and Somaliland that surrendered a 20km strip of Somaliland to Ethiopia is against international law and detrimental to the stability of the region.

It's not about port. They want a stretch of land for army base. Correct your headline CGTN. What is the discussion? This MOU violets Sovereignty and territorial integraty of Somalia, it shouldn't be in discussion. The consequences of altering the Sovereign of the republic will have a SEVERE repercussions, it's not an adventureto try to. Somaliland itself may not exists if it starts auctioning the people and their land, it won't exist much longer if it doesn't change course.

We are talking of Somaliland not Somalia. You can't force a large number of people to be aligned to a certain central government against their wish. If Somaliland or Puntland want to be sovereign states let them be and the International Community should take charge to legitimize that.

I bet no one in Somaliland can recognise them by name.. They should focus their energy on uplifting the standards of living of the people who elected them rather than external issues that don’t factor at all in their constituencies.. It’s all a matter of razzmatazz and hullabaloos that is focussed in appeasing Mogadishu warlords who have business interests in Kenya where these MPs are shareholders… They’re licking their masters feet as a show of solidarity.. Kenya occupies our land, therefore, we are the Somali Tribes of Kenyan - look at national registry, you'll us up are amongst 45+ Kenyan tribes. We have land in Kenya, it's is called North Eastern Kenya, they've annexed into Kenya, if you cut our region from Kenyan perhaps Israeled us, there will be zero Somalis in Kenya. How do you like our 30-37% contributions to Nairobi County revenue, perhaps you have no idea how much we contibute to the countries economy. We are loyal to our home, and always defend home. What is your point? Live in reality, whether they're Somalis or Kenyans. There is nothing you and I can do about it. These politicians, regardless of their origin they have two things in common, 1. They don't give a sh%t about anything you and I have to say or argue about - that goes for the entire population of both countries we are talking about. 2. They're more powerful than you and I in both countries... So, let's work toward our common goal instead of stressing ourselves with our differences. That Kenyan politician, or Somalian politicians, or that Ethiopian that is dissing one another on X are having 5 start dinner together in some luxury hotel somewhere around the world, while we're wasting our valuable time arguing over them...

Those Mps in Kenya who claim to be Somali or African are not. They migrated to Somalia in 1445 after the zinj wars in the middle-east when Arabs evicted all their former slaves. These people who have dark skin and asian hair were never originally african. They may have ahad mixed black and asian ancestors but they were from srilanka. Somali people have never had peace since they arrived in 1445
